[quote="bakadeshi"]After reading through this thread, I think I've decided on pre-ordering the M2s over the M1s. I'm not a basshead myself, though I do like the bass to be clear and tight, but not too overprominent that it drowns out the highs and mids. I like the highs to be clear and sparkly, but not so much that its stressing on the ears. It seems from these reviews that these sound good in the types of music I usually listen to, Rock, Alternative, country, jazz, R&B (easy listening?), and Drum & Bass. I didn't see anyone test these on music like The Prodigy and Pendulum, but these would probably be right up their alley judging from the impressions above.

Thanks for the informative reviews! (just wish there was a thread like this to compare the m1s with before the preorder date ran out, to make the choice easier ]

I think you would do well with the M2's,as the quality is a notch or so above the M1's,hence the price difference.I tried them with The Prodigy for you(a few tracks of of Experience),and the sound was tight and well balanced, really brought their sound out well.I havent listened to them in quite awhile, thanks for the reminder!

there is another review here http://mp4nation.net/blog/2010/05/review-brainwavz-m1/ that makes some comparisons between the M1 and M2

I thought M1 is more analytical than M2, although M2 sound better over all. Am I wrong? So if you prefer classical music than M1 is for you.

Based on the reviews, I don't think you're correct. Especially read joker's review posted on the mp4nation blog. The M1's are more balanced, but by reducing bass - not adding treble. Joker commented that there's even less sparkle in the high frequencies than with the M2. So I still wouldn't recommend them for classical.

I haven't heard the M1's but it sounds like the M1's might be your option if you're opposed to bassy iem's. I prefer an analytical sound signature, but have really enjoyed the M2.

based on what i've read both here and over at head-fi, it seems the M1s have a more punchy bass while the M2s have a more full boomy one by comparison. (I tend to prefer punchy to boomy)
The M2s however have been described to have a more thicker creamier sound while the M1 are a little more flat, but not by enough of a difference that most people wouldn't be able to tell difference unless side by side comparing them. These seem to be the major differences as far as I understand it.

Currently I am leaning more towards M1, due to the punchy bass, less fatiguing over longrun, and the more balanced sound overall, since I listen to a wide range of music styles, and it was stated that the M1 does do well still with bassy tracks like D&B and rap.

That's probably a good choice for you. But I do want to say that even though I'm more of a treblehead than a basshead - I have NEVER found the bass on the M2's boomy. I think it's high quality and tight.

Well I ended up preordering the M2s ;p

I got my Dad, who is somewhat of an audiophile to read all the reviews and tell me which he recomended, and he leaned towards the M2 because of the slightly higher quality midrange, where he thinks is most important because its where most of the music is at. Plus the M2s have more of a savings from the preorder. if later on down the line I want to try the M1s, $39 is alot easier to come up with than $69

I'll post back on what I think of em when I get them in.

Not to take advantage of your kindness, but there is at least one song in particular which I would really like you to check out.

Based on all the reviews, I'm pretty sure I have the answer, but in a review such as yours, I was looking for the name "Freddie Mercury" throughout since you were being specific occasionally. These headphones seem perfect for what I'm looking for but the mention of high notes not sounding as forward worries me a bit. I am hoping that any singing in the following is as powerful as it should be. I think this is the best example to test with considering the amount that's going on and the way the sound is mastered in the first place, or rather lack thereof (this is a prior-to release recording). http://www.mediafire.com/file/zwzdodjyk ... %27%29.mp3
It might also be a bad example for that same exact reason so please let me know. There are other songs that might be easier to test.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me - but I'll try to check this out tonight when I get home from work. In particular - I'll compare the listening experience to my custom Ultimate Ears TF10's. It's an unfair comparison - since unmodified TF10's sell for around $200 these days, but they're known for their treble. So I can address how the high notes are impacted in your song.

Sorry, I was actually replying to dragon2knight's original post with the review. The subject in the replies I guess isn't that noticeable.

I would love your opinion as well, but I didn't want to bother too many people. You don't have to if you wouldn't like to/are busy or whatever. Thanks though!
