BTW - from the original post
320x240 resolution, XviD codec, 768kbps bitrate, 30 frames per second, with 128kbps 44100Hz MP3 audio played back perfectly
so are your settings near this, i think the key here is resolution

I have sold off my silver 5th gen iPod nano clone, but I still have the videos I converted for it on my computer. I'll try to upload one of them to a file hosting site and Osama you can test them with your MP4 player to see if my converted video works.

All,
Thank you so much for all your offers and suggestions.
At the moment, the player is dead in water with AVI files.

The following is EXACT copy of email from seller:
------------------
Who allow you to reset the format of the player? If you don't know this, you can't reset it without factory's permission. So you make the problem. It can play avi format mp4 before shipping out. Thanks for your attention.

-------------------

So, lesson learned is :
1. Buy authentic product
2. Stay away from chinese tech support.

Sorry for the late reply, work has kept me busy, but here is a download link to one of the sample videos I converted for the 5th gen iPod nano clone: http://www.mediafire.com/?4inmnkgz2yk

Osama, please download and test this video on your MP4 player, and see if it works or not.

No problem at all.
Nope. The unit refused to play your AVI file.
Perhaps it is the WMPINFO.xml file?
I Included mine for further investigation.

My guess it is configured in Chinese and thus it won't play anything else?

How Can I save the language?
If I changed the language and after I turn off the player, and after turn on, I have to change again the language, because the player forgot it.
(I changed the default language and now the Chinese is the default). And I can't save anither language.
How can I solve this?
Thank you!

The quality of these 5th gen iPod nano clones, like all the previous nano clones released in the past, will be very inconsistent. Some will work fine, while others will not. Buying an MP4 player for $30-$40 USD never guarantees quality, you get what you pay for basically.

About the shuffle - I was wondering, have you tried to lock the keys?

I recently bought a 4th gen ipod nano clone.
My only remark about the player is that the operating system isn't really usable.
In contrast, the OS on your mp4 clone is much alike the real ipod.

My biggest frustration is that i can't search my music by album, artist, ...
Only if i manually sort my music i can search by artist but then i can't listen to all my music.

Do you have any idea how i can upgrade the firmware so i have the same menu's (artist, album, all, now playing, ...) like you?

Thanks

Hello,
Finally, I was able to get my clone working.
Here's what I did.
1. Reset the unit
2. Format memory

Next, re-copy songs and AVI files over to music and video folders respectively.

The clone unit only provides 1st level folder support.
For example:
Music\<<1st level folder name >> will work.

THX again.

Osama
