Damn. you have bricked your MP4 Player. to repair first try holding the M Button after connecting the deviceto a usb then release after a few secs
if that doesnt work them ime afraid your gohna have to take it apart... follow 1 of the guides theres a few about and carefull not to scratch the casing like i did

Or hold the m button connect a usb then release after the usb symbol comes up on the screen of your device*

On the VX858LE there should be two small screws on the bottom of it, beside the miniSD slot. Remove those screws, and try to get the back cover off.

Read these instructions on how to recover a VX858 (different MP4 player than the one you have but the recovery procedure is the same, you will need at least Adobe Reader to view this document): http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/a6ae653b62_0.15MB

The hynix chip referenced in the guide that had tweezers slid across it is a "EtronTech" branded chip in the VX858LE clone.

It may be easier to short the pins on the rectangular memory chip instead. It looks like three possibilites were found for the memory chip.

DO NOT TOUCH THE SQUARE CHIP AT ALL, THAT IS THE MAIN ROCKCHIP RK2608A CHIP.

dewoine, use the firmware that previously worked for you once you get your MP4 player into "rockusb" mode.

hay guys,

I'm trying to mod some firmware and need a little help!!

I'm using RKLogoEdit_v1.0.0.17 and all seems well till I click on the "ADD BMP" button under BMP VIEW ... Everytime I click this button it gives me the following error

i almost finished my dutch translation and i just tested it and it works perfectly

btw what is the changelog of 00.000.002 to 000.000.004?

Ok I fixed this myself !! For others that may have this problem this is what I did..

I did a google search for the files name COMDLG32.OCX It finds many things to do with this missing file !!

you then download it from one of the sites in your google search, then extract it to your windows\system32 directory

then goto start / run and type this : REGSVR32 c:\windows\System32\comdlg32.ocx
it will come up with a pormpt saying done and thats all !!

The software now works perfect !!!

which firmware are you going to edit?
if it's the 00.00.0004 released in januari 2008 than please upload it when you're done.

Thank you Player crazy for posting this solution before I could.

Also to add on to that, for Windows 2000 users with this problem what you enter in Command Prompt is this:
regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\COMDLG32.OCX

To be more specific about the message shown that it worked, the message "DllRegisterServer ... succeeded" will indicate that it worked.

Glad to hear it dewoine. Has any body else started production of a 00.00.0004 lst yet? ime about half way through with mine
