Hi there,
the player doen't play near the half of my downloaded FLACs and 90% of APEs, just returns to the main menu, probably due to the 24/96, haven't checked it yet, that's really annoyed.
So in what format should files be in order to play smoothly? Will there be the significant quality loss if I reconvert these files to the supported format?

Thanks!

24/96 has been tested and is too much for this player and no, there will not be a massive loss unless you have bat like sensitivity to your hearing

the player does not look at the track number tags at all so in the LIB the files are listed in the order they were copied over INSANE

in the directory view they will display as you have selected in the setting as you can choose to list files by TIME, ALPHABETICAL and TYPE -

in short if using FILE BROWSE there is a chnace they will be in order, you may need to rename files so the track number is at the beginning - 10_track1.flac etc for its listing options to work also if you copy them over correctly (in track order) then listing by TIME will also be correct - its madness i know but agsin, in short, the music database is flawed - use the browse for now and be organised

Ok I should be good then viewing by directory, the tracks are numbered in my library like this.

1.track.flac
2.track.flac

Etc.

Any downside to viewing by directory?

I made sure my 1TB of lossless audio would be viewable by ID tags and directory browsing, looks like that effort payed off.

no real downsides
note, as this player sorts alphabetically numbers need to be like this, with leading zeros ..

01_track 1.mp3
02_track2.mp3
.
.
.
10_track 10.mp3

so it will list them in order(if using Alphabetized sorting)

no real downsides, its no better than the sortted DB anyway as long as you are sorted with files and folders

I don't think that there is a 24/96 portable player on the market, those big files will drain battery much faster I believe...

Just checked - 2 of them are 24/96, the rest are 44Khz, 800-900kbps. Nobody has the same problem?

Cheers

Music Player

Overview
This section mainly refers to the User interface and general functionality of the music player, listing all the options and functions available, tips and tricks and son on

The music player interface/application is not perfect, it has some quirks that are both generic to all Chinese media player and some that are unique to this player. The general layout of the main music player screen is not too bad, fo the most part is clean and buttons accessible, album art is too small and text elements like Song name, album etc and crammed into a small spaces at the top of the player, meaning long song filenames have to scroll back and forth to be seen - mad considering all the screen real estate on offer.

Interacting with all the buttons give you a visual feedback in the form of a throbbing circle animation, letting you know you have hit the right spot, its a nice efect, simple and effective.

Music screen Layout
The main music player screen has been crammed full of all you need to navigate and work your music, with so much stuff on the one screen that album art has been squashed to a smaller size and important elements crammed in small places.
All the PLAY/PAUSE, buttons as well as the TIME SLIDER are a accessible towards the bottom of the screen as well as 2 buttons, one to take you to the settings screen (more below on settings details) and one to take you back to the main music browser menu.

The FF and REW buttons are located towards the top and can be a little awkward to reach while using one handed as its quite a big player, they would have been better down below the art, making them more accessible, you can use the button for FF or REW but you can also drag the time bar quite easily.

In the center of the music players screen is a sort of info/display panel, this in itself holds 4 different views, each accessed by swiping left or right on the screen, they consist of an EQ bars animation view, Album art view, lyrics view (if lyrics available) and another screen dedicated to showing some sort of music visualization effect - this last one is pointless, its not in tune with the music, in any way, just a simple 10 frame animation - this space would have been better used to display track information or even a quick view track list from current artist, as it is its a waste of time.

The following screen shot shows the design and layout of the music player.- a picture paint 100 words, you can see from this image the layout, options and all that jazz

Tips, Tricks, problems and other stuff.

Favorites and playlists

In short the players has the bog standard built in favorites feature. This is an internal only list and does not work from any standard PC playlist formats.
There is only the one list to play with here, songs can be added 1 at a time (flaw) and deleted 1 at a time, you can not rename the playlist in anyway - its just a basic list of music files and nothing more

Adding to the playlist

  • Browse the music in whatever manner you like, either music library or file browser[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • select a song by touching it and dragging down on the screen and releasing, this is the only way to "select" a song, just touching it will open and play it!! - this needs sorting out as its tricky to get right[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • once highlighted (orange selector bar appear) click small icon on bottom left of screen[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • from the popup menu select ADD TO FAVORITE[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • nothing appears to happen but it has added it[/*:m:1sjl1poc]

Note that the players does not put any indicators on songs that have been added to the list but you can only add 1 of each song
Note You can only add 1 song a time, this is not the normal rockchip way so not sure what teclast have done here
Note Adding a song to a currently PLAYING favorites list will not automatically register and play, you need to reselect a song from the list for it to be put into the pot and played along with the other songs on the list - so, it does not work like a ADD TO NOW PLAYING function

Deleting from the playlist

  • Open the favorites list from the main music menu[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • select a song by touching it and dragging down on the screen and releasing, this is the only way to "select" a song, just touching it will open and play it!! - this needs sorting out as its tricky to get right[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • once highlighted (orange selector bar appear) click small icon on bottom left of screen[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • from the popup menu select YES[/*:m:1sjl1poc]
  • song is removed instantly[/*:m:1sjl1poc]

Note You can only delete 1 song at a time
Note There is no clear favorites option
Note Favorites list is not visible or manageable in anyway on the host computer
