Hi guys, my s:flo2 was delivered today, I put it on and everything worked fine.

Then I tried to update the firmware to v 2.0 but I think I royally messed things up.

At the moment, the player seems bricked, the reset button doesn't do anything and when I tried the MP4 Nation resotring device tool it said player not found.

Also, on the XP machine the player was no longer recognised as harddrive so you can't see it in the My Computer area....but it did ask me to install the RK28usb driver, which I did.

Screenshots:

This is what happens when I press the U button now:

Guys I hope there is a solution and I haven't bricked the player for good....I didn't even get to test it with my stax :(

I can't see the drive anymore, when I connect the player connects as RC28usb so I can no longer format it or anything.

Quick update, I used an old loader to install firmware 1.10.

At first this wasn't doing anything but if you deselect the IIBoot icon and then flash it will load up, get out of maskrom mod and get the s:slo2 alive again.

Have installed 1.20 an will be doing v 2.0 now. thought I would show how I got out of mask mode incase an other user gets this problem.

good to hear you have it back and running
the routine and tools for the 1.20 to 2.00 is odd as many are either doing the process wrong or have different results all round,

i did make some screen shots and started a guide a few days ago but just did not have time to sort it before this new theme went up and i wish i had, i have both downgraded and upgraded several times now, best thing i found is to first format the main memory, not a quick format just normal, then to open the tool and then (for 1.20 to 2.00 only) and after the drivers are installed you need to press the IDE, this is an important step as the jump from 1.20 to 2.0 seems to have lowr level changes, needing thwe tool to go deeper into the update process, after that its just update as normal, also give each button press a few seconds to register, clicking fast and mad one after the other does not give the player time to get set up in the correct modes for the updates

yeah, my first time around I messed up the procedure to install it as I had to find an XP machine and forgot the order of things...this lead to the whole mask situation. Anyhow, second time around I got the wireless up and made sure I followed instructions. I noted down everything here as I couldn't find much information on the MaskRom and believe this could help other users if thier player dies.

Also, great work on the themes, the s:flo2 looks much more slick now.
