Mine's a Q7 and I honestly don't know as I've never used it outside
My personal opinion is that if you know or are prepared to learn some basic Linux then a V5 or a V7 (depends if you want pocket-ability or a bigger screen) will do everything a MP4 player can and much much more. e.g you will not find a music interface on a Chinese MP4 player that can touch those available on a Linux MID, they play HD video with TV out, you can browse the internet with WiFi or 3G modem, play games (http://www.smartqmid.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... 725&p=5412) etc etc

I've got basic knoledge of Linux (Clarkconnect server and ubuntu) and I'm sure I can do much much more with it than any pmp, my concern is the usage of it outside as I'm looking for a real PDF reader that is viewable in sunlight...

I don't recall where, but I remember that there are screen protectors that increase daylight visibility.

The Smart v5 & V7 can do PDF's no problem, your problem is the sun and that is a bit trickier. So it's a choice between possible/probable reading of PDF's on a SmartQ (especially if you are creative), reading PDF's on an insanely expensive device (if it exists) or no PDF reading at all. Over to you.

It's not choice as the price will be outrageous if it exist... And the system will be "jailed".....

I think the V5 is to small compared to my iphone (yes I'm on the DarkSide ), 7" is mandatory to get a confortable view....

So it's Smartq V7 (254$) with few outdoor capabilities vs BM-888 (139$) with hypothetical PDF support......

What a choice....

Will you sell some inovative pmp in the following weeks or monthes as they were lots of new product release and I don't see much of it in mp4nation catalog ?

I looking for what you searching too, but I need a RCA TV-Out as well, need it to output video in my car too. Is there any HDMI to RCA convertor out there?

As iPad is just 2 to 4 times more expensive than your products I guess there's hope !!


I do prefer the BM-888 to the smartq V7 for screen quality reason. You told me that it was able to run homebrew applications... I've red about it on button based pmp, is it possible on touch screen based pmp ?

there are now a raft of eBook reader coming out from all the big chinese PMP companies with PDF capability, mening better outdoor readability, the teclast one even players music etc etc - maybe the best option, a dedicated reader as opposed to a player with PDF hacked onto it
