Hello ironman:

I ned to mod a firmware for my player with keymap change problem (on games and menus). I edit some part of the menu config keymap, but the code got some part with strange caracters. Do i need to decompile the code?

Can you give me a hand? it can help to many others...

This is the link to download the firmware http://godsus.cn/uploadfile/mp6/MS696-8000A.rar

And this is my tread with explanation on how i mode the menu key config.

Thank you.

Codes of keys are stored in a firmware file, but I do not know structure of this file. At the best you do not need to decompile anything, it is necessary to generate correctly only a file of firmware for the player by means of the program Toolkit MP8000 (see this topic) and to take of the version FRM program for the firmware burn only for your pleer (it is possible to pick up by practical). For this purpose it is necessary to disassemble a player and finding on the motherboard the necessary number sk80xx...

AleMaxx, there are nothing special as for me - just the same we already know. Except, maybe, serial port connection possibility for some ppl. But, still it is not the easy way 'coz not everybody want to solder anything in the pmp or even taking it apart.

BUT, thnx a lot for sharing a link. this may help me in my investigations.

P.S. Mr. Dj M. the work goes well, but no info sharing now, 'coz don't want at the time. Possibly in next 3-4 days some app and info will be released ;)

Thanks ironman, but i was already open my machine and i find this info:

The chip is:

spmp8000 A-HL171 (sunplus)
0000002
0924

Base board

H802-v7
090803

i tried all, and beleave me, all firmwares in the net and chinese web pages, but the only semiworking firmware (with key problems) is the posted in godsus page model "ms696".

I download the sk8000 tools, i said "tools" because a found four diferents types, the "classic" with suport between 7010 and 8023, the normal 8015 and 8607, the special but not working 8015A, 8607A, 8607B and 8607c, and finally the "especial classic" between 70xx and 8017. I can post this another versions tomorrow, because now i m on my netbook.

If somebady know anything or got the same machine as me, please help because i truly beleave this is a great player that in community could be more great than now.

See you.

Here are the player update tools: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KUHS7IGV ( FRM_v0.9.0.8 ) / http://www.megaupload.com/?d=F4NL4J9Z ( FRM_v0.9.1.8 ) / http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P1J9TBWS ( FRM_v1.1.0.2 )

It not different versions, is different programs for different players. Only one of them will probably correctly update the firmware. All of you tried these utilities?
