Hey TWP, I suggest you change the title of this thread to Sochip Player Firmware Upgrade Guide to reduce to confusion with the other Onda players firmware upgrade procedure.

What do you think?

Wish I had an answer for you. Certainly wouldn't hurt to try, IMO. How did it brick? Hopefully not by trying to upgrade with a low battery.

Ouch. I always put in my guides to make sure you have a full charge before attempting upgrade, and now you know why. Don't know if you can return it or not?

warrior, surely in a bricked state the player is not going to respond to the charger being plugged in anyway, it wont show any activity as the frimware is screwed, i imagine following the guides for repair will get it back

I see what you're saying. I guess if he can plug it onto the USB and get the driver recognized, he'd be in business.

mceq9771, read over the guide, and try to recover your player. Better to read the whole thing first, to get an idea of what's going on. There are driver recognition tips. Try to recover and let us know what's going on/not going on with it.

Let people know this guide isn't for the VX575FHD.

Hi,

It did not work for me (Win XP SP3, Dell Inspiron 640m, Onda VX575HD).

I did exactly as you stated. Downloaded IMG file (1.02) and LiveSuite. Unpacked them in a temporary directory.
As my Onda is recognized by the system, I connected it to the computer's USB port.
I started LiveSuite, pointed it to the IMG-file, waited a while (it was 0% on the progress meter) and pressed "System Upgrade" button.
LiveSuite exited immediately.

I repeated the procedure a couple of times. LiveSuite always exited.

What's wrong?

Nb. the LiveSuite was only in Chinese. Is there any English version?

If this is the first time you upgraded this player, you'll have to get the driver recognized and install the driver. Not sure if there is an English version or not, but I showed on the screenshot what the buttons are for. Shouldn't be a problem. As you can see on the guide, I added all the troubleshooting tips I know of for this player. But, like I said, if this is the first time for upgrading this player, you'll have to get the install wizard to pop up, and install the driver. I believe that the Livesuit tool is exiting when you click on System Upgrade because the driver isn't installed. It simply isn't recognizing your player. See number 7 of the guide.
