Any luck so far?

I have already written, that has opened the case and has found the button which enable service mode. And ChinaChip flasher 2.19 work with it device.
Good, glad it worked out for you. I still say it could have been fixed without opening it, but you got it going, so life is good.

Actually Poet, I had the same problem. The service button is the only way that I could figure out how to upgrade the firmware. The hidden button is pretty much the menu or a/b button... I'm now thinking of drilling a hole in the case shell just so I can access it :D .

Anyway, Your tutorial was very helpful and I'm hoping to get more insight to this player on chinese forums to bring here.

Cheers.

Perhaps it is the only way. It just sucks that you have to open the player, and invalidate the warranty.

Would make life easier, lol. Not sure why in the hell they didn't do that at the factory.

First of all, sorry for my english. I'll try to explain everething as well as i can...

Recently, i received a Benss X636HD from China. As i saw, it's very similar - or the same - as Bmorn BM-888HD. That's why i post this here...if anybody think i should move it, tell me please.
I'm a newby in these machines...

This is the machine:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=es&sl=zh-CN&tl=es&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.benss.net%2Fcn%2Fshowpro.asp%3Fid%3D386

Even download webs are almost the same:

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=es&sl=zh-CN&tl=es&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.benss.net%2Fcn%2Fdownload.asp%3Flb%3D1

http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=es&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bmorn.com%2Fcn%2Fdownload.asp&sl=zh-CN&tl=es

The problem started when i connected it via USB to my computer. It worked fine until i connected it, since then I can't turn it on.
My OS is Ubuntu. It connected, and now it still connect well. It shows an USB icon on the screen. But i can't see the unit in my system.

If i try in WXP, it's detected too, but when detecting it show “Problems with device….” but its finally shown as an USB storage device and i can access the unit with videos, photos, music...all in the root, not in folders. When i safely remove it, it shows “Update Finished” in screen and, until i remove the USB cable, it show the main menu in screen but with a lock at the top rigth corner, and i can touch any icon, it's locked. After a minute it turns off if I don’t remove the USB cable.
If i remove USB cable when its on, it turns off and i can't turn on.

I dón't know what i should try in order to be able to turn it on again...
I don't know if i should update the firmware, reset anything...

In my despair, I downloaded the firmware update from the official website but, i really didn't know wich version i should have to install. I downloaded this two:

2009-9-28
X636V2.11????? X636V2.11 compatible con mate

2009-9-25
??X636HDP_V2.2(v2.1?????2.2) Color X636HDP_V2.2 (versión v2.1 no se eleva a 2,2)

When i tried to use the burn program, i read the instructions but one of the problems i found is that i can't load the system configuration file "CN2008_CFG_X636HDP_LCM_LG_7.0_800_480.DL”.
I select it but shows an alert – with ???????, i don't know what's the problem – so it can't be loaded, and i can't go on.

Maybe i sholdn't update the firmware and that's not the problem...

I also read the instructions in order to detect the drivers of chinachip , http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14799 , and i couldn't finish it...when browsing and selecting “C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ ChinaChipUSB”, it can't be loaded...
I don't know if this step is neccesry, cause the device is detected. But i only access to the unit with media as i said before. I don't know if any othe access is needed.

I read the full post and that two people had success...and i read about the button inside the machine, opening it. But i did't understan the steps they have done. I need more details.

I could upload any screenshot if needed.

Could anybody help me? I'm desperate with this...

Thanks in advance.

Is there a reset hole on this player? I'm not familiar with this player. Look on page 1 of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15988 Is the reset hole in the same place? The Bmorn 888 and this player seem to be the same.

First of all, thanks for your help.

Yes, there is. Is the same player with different name, i think.
It has the same hole in the back.
It's exactly as the player in page one of this post.

I tried whit the stylus in that hole, but nothing happens...i don't know what the sequence should be...

I have to go for now, mother came over for my birthday. Here's a troubleshooting guide for the Bmorn 888. May not have the answers, but I will look later: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... hUIhTptrpQ

I've read the guide but haven't found anything for my problem.

Should i see anything else in my PC that the drive with media files when connecting it via USB?

It's very strange that the screen turns on when i safely remove the USB connection, and then it turns off when i remove the USB cable...and then it doensn't turn on...

And, in the beginning, i didn't try to upgrade firmware...i just connected it to my PC via USB...maybe it tried to upgrade automatically?

Well, many doubts, don't know next step...

Thanks again and i hope you can give me any advise...

Tell your firmware version. I tried flashing many times. But without open cover and pressing button near battery + Reset, it not going to recovery mode. You also must use Windows XP. Driver for "ChinaChip USB boot loader" you may download from Onda V545HD firmware (Correct?).
