so you got the phones as well - good, well at least they gave you a cleaning cloth :)
some images not showing mate

yeah but they suck, i remember the cx300's sounded much better out of the box (before even burned in), these lack of highs and bass, the mids excel here, kind of shallow sound. might give them to my b rother since i'm planning to buy good one for it, if i like it more than the os-81 + cx300

yeah well, these are microfiber and clean really good, i still have the same one from the vx747 but in blue

images fixed

are there any things interfering with the sound quality

it's full of it, everywhere! at weird times, wether it be when you turn it ON or OFF you hear a huge "plop" noise like when turning on a subwoofer or when playing songs (there are some sample files on it MP3 FLAC and APE) and it makes funny noises and hisses at weird times, sometimes when skipping to the next song, the other time when going back to the main menu, other time when in the browser and play a song from there, one of the FLAC files is either corrupt or the chip can't handle it because when FF'ing the sound gets distorted and there's no way correcting it unless you play it again, the same thing was on rk2706 when FF'ing FLAC files (not a biggie though since i listen to mp3 only)

movies same thing, background hissing at times, there's 2 samples on it, RMVB and VOB which play fine

first impressions:
- great build and weight
- perfect size!
- amazing screen, colors and viewing angles
- screen tearing!
- the analog volume button works very good, i like this approach because it's accurate
- simple and clean UI but there's loads of room for improvement (as usual)
- weird background noises and hisses at times
- unbelievable SQ and volume
- line-out port is _loud_

i totally forgot about my microSD card, i'm gonna collect all kinds of files and run some tests but i dont want to make a text review but you can still ask questions all you want, of course ;)

mmm.. just what i feared about the noises, does it interfere do you think with the music or video when listening or is it just when navigating around the player?

does it list FLAC OGG and APE in the music database (i know you folder browse but i just want to know)
how does the album view on the music player work, does the center icon get art yet and what do the small DVD/album art icons at each side actually do are they selectable

no, just when navigating

nope, mp3 only!

in general, i've been thinking about this one and if you have a mix of mp3, flac, ape and ogg files, i think it's best to have seperate databases with their own album, artist, id tags, sorting, album art etc. otherwise it would be a mess, i.e. you choose an album but you can't see by the tag wether it's mp3 or flac.. i'm using mp3 only so this is no problem for me

still copying stuff to my mem card, will let you know in a minute

os-81 is not comparable, nowhere near, as if they are from two different planets! seriously, i haven't heard anything like this on a media player before, it really sounds like a home entertainment system, i'm blasting some 320kbit HQ electronic music and my ears are blown away! if you want to blow up your ears AND headphones, get this! lol the SQ is unbelievable.. and this is even with the cx300's, although i love them, this player definitely deserves better, it's reaaaaally pushing the cx300's to the limits with user EQ, but no distortion whatsoever, the sound stays crips and clear, tones environment, lows mids and highs, everything is perfect! the volume is insanely loud, absolutely love it! i think i'll be having hearing damage soon ;) this baby definitely needs some high quality IEM's, that's for sure!

mad, the UI is your standard rockhip stuff, not interesting, just dressed up nicely here and there so if teclast keeps the rockhip tradition, i dont think we will ever see proper sorting, listing, album view and all that other stuff we always talk about, the ipod UI stuff so to say.. the UI in general is simple and clean, actually i like it this way because this is a music player in heart and soul so no need for fancy stuff but there's definitely room for improvement of a better music UI, although i would have liked more enhancements on the audio side, like all that stuff on the cowon D2+ (Settings for five-band EQ, Mach3Bass, BBE enhancement, 3D Surround, Stereo Enhancement, and MP3 Enhancement) AND the sorting and listing by tags of course but that's just rockhip.. dont think that will ever change :o ops:

video, well.. MKV is still too heavy, plain and simple, it plays but it's unwatchable.. BUT the sound however, O M G! i played one of those 720p samples i posted with DTS sound? movie theaters, eat your heart out! seriously, the sound is incredible, like you were in a movie theater

album art, those 2 side icons display album art, the middle one (the disc) stays like this so unfortunately no full screen album art  there is no album view, maybe with the other desktop but it's totally empty now - gonna charge it overnight and continue tomorrow

so far i absolutely love it, the size, the build, the weight, the screen, the SQ, can't beat it, so definitely a good buy, this is what i've always wanted :)

GOOD - that is excellent news and coming from you mate .. no offence .. to get a thumbs up means it must have hit the right buttons nd be damn good as you can be a little well ... but its good to hear it was money well spent

about the UI, well i have always liked its simplicity,m its what i like in a UI and generally i have been ok with this player UI from start, only the stupid colorured desktop is a disaster, but i am looking into the rockres file on that and they seem not to support PNG transparent images but some insane masking system with each icon on the normal green background and then an identical copy of the icon in black and white (in the firmware that is), this will act as a mask and hide the green - seriously odd and stupid system - but we may atleast be able to tone down the awdul second main menu

BTW what happems when you tap one of those album art images ??

But what about those underlying low-mids vis a vis the delicate but slightly subdued upper highs? :-)

resentful and rebelious? ]the stupid colorured desktop is a disaster[/quote]totally, a waste of space..

nothing, you can only swipe in the middle and it will change to either album art, graph EQ, lyrics or some stupid animated image, like a round flower or something..

it's all there! ;)

well i hope they do something with them album art images as its a complete waste of space what they have done there - an album art images each side and blank in the middle (i suppose these represent the next and previous songs in the current list) but a disaster of an implementation, what i do like about the T11RK is that the album art images all appear and you can scroll through them and select, its not a perfect solution but its alot better

in the video player do we have thumb images of the movies at all

i think we will see a few UI changes in terms of things like mivie and art thumbs and a few other bits yet and we will see some updates soon i am sure

if you are feeling a little brave slap a "teclast.sys" file into the root and get access to firmware partition and upload the firmware files - dont worry if dont want to
