The digital radio won't work in Europe (it's not DAB compatible), so only a redesigned Zune would make sense for Europe. Given the history of the Zune though I doubt we will see it anytime soon.

Yes, like getting my son to buy one and post it to me

then you are the lucky one
after reviewing this player i will go back on what i said - its beautiful - its modern without being too out there, compared side by side to the Ipod the ipod looks like a relick
the UI is amazing, the music browser is to die for, loive the way the back image is of the currently selected artist and the simple way is lists the songs is elegant and well laid out
i hate seeing things like "market place" or shopping cart icons - ringa alarm bells for me
on the functions i woulod use this is one hell of a fresh, simple design that is not too "designed" as to be quirky, its different but should appeal to the masses, again, rthe iTouch looks like a road crash next to this
as for importing it, well you would be a fool, importing from the US to UK is nightmare, even from ebay, customs will get you, it will cost more on ebay anyway, plus when i spend that amount on something i want a warranty and immediate base to return things if needed so i will not be paying any premiums just to get one

I'm sure he would send 2 if we sent him the money :D My cunning plan would be to remove the device from the packaging and send them separately. The packaging "Sample Packaging - Value $10.00" and the Zune wrapped in bubble-wrap in the smallest packet possible with "GIFT-MP3 player - Value $50.00" on the customs paperwork.

Here is a 15% off coupon offered from Dell. http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/microsoft ... 14167.aspx

I can't wait to get one but I'd prefer the Red colour which is not available for now.

They are gonna do so much business on illegally imported HD's, why would they take the effort to make it compatible for other parts of the world and officially release it there... :-)
Not to speak of the non-warranty issues that come with all of that.

Pretty much the same HTC does with its WinMO phones, a lot of them are not being released in the US and people there want them all the more and make shops in the UK very happy.

on the other hand, that's also true, it's too expensive and too much of a hassle to import, taxes, warranty issues etc. too risky for a device like that, this should be available in local stores then it would be interesting

well, i'm not too fond of stuff like marketplace or itunes stores either on a portable player but it's the music menu, like you said, that charmes me, looks very slick and innovative

Sorry to disappoint you, but he said it's not going to be available in Europe this year, the player you are talking about is the Samsung M1.

what!!!!! - 299 euros for 8GB - that's £260 in cold hard British cash that is ridiculous

DAB is what we have here in the UK and its reception is patchy to say the least so i doubt they will take time to make a DAB model for us, it will be at least 2012 before we have full digital cover, that is the Governments target for all digital services

judging from what i see, i love the UI on this and the touch seem beautiful but i am NEVER willing to pay that price for a player ( i would want 16GB at least), i would need an extra dock to have the video functionality, will i be able to play all my converted vids or just ones from the zune con .. i mean store ....

as much as this is a delicious device it seems to be pointless outside the US
