Onda VX555HD Blue Shift Theme Ver. 1.6 download HERE
Onda VX555HD Blue Shift Theme Backgrounds HERE

WARNING! Install this at your own risk. Not responsible for bricked players! If it does get bricked, here's a guide for recovery.

Well, here's my first theme for the Onda VX555HD Ver. 1.6. As you well know, the stock theme is a little boring, to say the least. So, I decided to do something about it.

Here's a photo of the old desktop:

And here's a few more of the new:

I also changed the battery charging screen, but didn't take a photo of it. If you notice, on the original menu screen, there were no "separators" between the menu choices, so I added them. Did a slight clock mod as well, but nothing to write home about. Changed the icons. (Thanks cookie259 for the icons)

Instructions:

Make sure your player is charged up before upgrading! You do not want the player to run out of battery in the middle of the upgrade. If there's a problem, and you have to do a restore, your player will have the charge to do so. I cannot stress this point enough.

Download the theme. Open up the zip file, and extract the VX555HD.HXF file. Plug your player into the USB port. Place the VX555HD.HXF file into the root directory.(Any place outside the folders, movie, pictures, etc.) Do a proper disconnect from the USB port. Shut the player completely off. Depress the volume down button, and as your doing that, press the player on button for about 5 seconds. Be patient at this point, it takes ChinaChip upgrade screen about 15-20 seconds to appear. This is what you're looking for:

Make sure it upgrades completely! It doesn't take too long once it starts. That's it! The player will return to the main menu once it's completed.

Okay, now let's download the backgrounds:

Once you have the backgrounds downloaded, extract them from the zip file. I believe there's 39 photos in there. Plug your player back into the USB port. After you open it up, place the downloaded photos in the picture folder. Do a proper USB disconnect. Navigate to the "picture" option on the main menu. Click on it. Then click on the first folder, which is the picture folder. Use the volume up/down button to go up or down, and the select button (top right of player) to go right or left. Select what photo you want for the background, by clicking the menu button on the face of the player. Then press the same menu button again, and you'll see an icon appear, which has 3 options. Use the select button, (top right of player) and navigate to the one on the right. Double click it with the menu button on front, but hold it in the second time until it saves as your background. That's it!

Note: You can also change the font color, to go with your background. Go to "settings" on the main menu. Go to "display", then "font color". Simply choose your color.

Default background: If you would like to return to the default background, simply navigate to "Settings", then "Display", then to "Back to Default Background".

Just do it yourself, learn how. Sift through the forums, that's how I learned. Not trying to be a hard ass, lol, but I just finished this one. I'm going to make a recovery guide next. I accidentally bricked my player the other night, from a file that got corrupted because it didn't repack correctly. So, I wanna show people what I did to recover it.

Hey TWP, just thought I'd give some feedback.
It's a nice start to see that the theme can be changed =)
With some of the backgrounds, the text is very hard to see, especially in that second 'movie' background, I haven't tested the theme out but does the background change each time you scroll through the menu? Like.. Movie to Music to Radio etc. If the background does change it might put off the user a little with consistency issues. But then again if it doesn't change, for the most part you can set a main background from a .jpg file stored in the player anyway, it might be better to make the background change when you go into the different menus as you've done for music and radio.
You can also try changing the icons to suit the theme, but the main thing about the original theme that I'm sure most people hate is the layout lol, that's either not possible to change or very hard right?
This is pretty early in the morning so sorry if some stuff seems stupid or doesn't make sense.

You can change the font color, but I know what you mean. When the bar is over the selection though, it's very plain to see, not to mention the icon matches.

No, it doesn't change, I just set the photo to background on several shots to show what can be done.

I thought the blue metallic icons went very well with the steel, or gray blue backgrounds.

It's beyond my skills, that's for sure, lol. If you noticed, I added lines between each menu selection. I didn't like that "open" look. I changed a few of the clock numerals, icons, music, record, and radio pics, etc. I thought it looked pretty good myself, lol. Lots better than the original, that's for sure.
