Iono if anyone else have notice this but there is a pattern in using the RK27DM Tools, there are alot of posts where people (bko_8, DoubleA, catmon, 26952187192, midnova, Bombo,) either have had their player(s) bricked or ran into trouble from using the RK27DM Tool. For all I know they could and hopefully had their problems resolved by now, since the posts are kinda awhile back.

I don't like to think that the tool was meant to messed up players or frustrate people but I would've tests it out and checked for bugs more thoroughly if needed, wished I woulda read the posts about problems first but instead chose the naïve and careless route and download and use the tools anyway.

All the trouble that I've had for the past 5+ days over my dead player started from this tool, the root of all my troubles thus recently.

Regardless Thx for the help anyways Raz and moderators, its the thought that really matter to me.

Well if writing all this will help one person from accidentally bricking their player, then dammit I'm grateful to be able to help.

Thoughts on this would be appreciate and welcome. :|

I can assure you that the half a dozen people you mention bricking their players has nothing to do with the RK27DM tool, it has to do with improper ways in upgrading their players. The moderators have done such a fantastic job in creating "how to" guides for upgrading firmwares step by step and the problems are usually because people do not read all or follow the steps EXACTLY. For instance many people try to use the RK27DM tool with windows vista. BUH BOW. this will never work. Also people who try to put wrong firmware onto a player that only supports their versions firmware will display as corrupted data, thus bricking the machine. In summary, the tool is fine and has helped out thousands (not an over-exaggeration) of users out there, just may need a little more thorough reading of tutorials and following all the required steps to suceed.

EXTRA NOTE: if i have learned anything in the past month after having a bricked VX787, that persistance does pay off. Keep trying and trying and trying, and if you have read the guides and are doing step by step procedures then keep trying. It appears as though after a solid few weeks of my player being dead and burried, the exact same sequence for restoring the player has eventualy bought my 787 back to life!

funny/ironic, because I restored my OS-43 back to life on 7/31/09 (the day after my post) with the RK27DM Tool but this time w/the correct driver.

alright, i dont think this is a big issue, im probably just thick, but about 1 minute into upgrading the firmware via the RK27DM it displays "DO NOT PLUG OUT USB CONNECTION CLICK CONFIRM TO CONTINUE REPAIR AFTER FIRMWARE UPGRADE THROUGH SETUP MENU OF PLAYER. CLICK CANCEL TO EXIT REPAIR" this sounds promising but i do not know what to do now???? please help
