Maderin, i received my player back today, many many thanks once again. I put it on charge straight away took about 3 hours to get a full battery, but i didnt get much time to muck around with it. Will do plenty of that when i get home from work tonight! Starting with the STRINGID. Did you end up changing the STRING? Its way all over the place, no big dramas though i can translate/ re-interpret most of it.
Had no issues last night while it was charging.
That stand you also sent is great! Thankyou, it will be most useful and looks brilliant in it.
I will be sending something back to you just as a little thanks for all your help, time and generosity.
Take care my friend.

Well, i had a good play around with it last night and all seems to be going well. Watched a movie on my plane trip this morning. Sweet As. The only dramas im having is with what i think is a firmware problem. I may need confirmation from other 787 users, like Warrior Poet on this. Im using firmware 3.7 and the icons dont really seem to be positioned that well. I was running firmware3.8 prior to my player messing up and am considering going back to it (if im game!) The fm transmitter is about 1.50 MZ out whereas in 3.8 it was spot on. No album art for the 3.7, which i had for 3.8. The player will occasionally switch itself off and only restart after pushing the reset button, and when i want to view all my music files i have to wait several minutes for the player to "update media library". Im pretty certain this is all firmware related as i didnt experience any of these minor dramas while using 3.8. I would like to hear from any users with the 787 using 3.7 or who has done so.

Hi all,

I am having this issue.

Having lived through it all. I was about to give up with this issue until I saw this thread. Looks like an epic story, but hope at the end.

Please advise on my next steps.

Do you think my device needs opening? If so, how is this best done without causing damage. I can't see a way in :?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Warrior Poet,

Yes I have seen this.

I had a white screen a while back. I fixed it using this guide.

This new problem is definately the same that greggo has had.

Red screen
0Bytes
Onda Cleaner not responding
:-(

It's very dissapointing for me because I do love this player. Having spent so many hours fixing it and understanding how it works, I feel like this is a problem that will result in me giving up.

I don't know where to begin because I can't even see how you open this device.

Can you or anyone else help, or is it time for me to start shopping for a new player?

Thanks.

This is usually up moderator maderin1's alley. He's very knowledgeable about these players. A red screen usually means a corrupt .BMPO file.
