CD is not needed as no drivers are needed

have you opened and looked in MY COMPUTER as the player will appear as a drive (or 2 if it has sd slot)

I did and it isn't there. The screen shows the battery charging but nothing else. I have tried connecting it with the power on and off but to no avail. I have tried it on a Mac and on windows on the same Mac.

MAC - ahhh well im out of my depth there i have not yet seen anyone using these players with that certain hardware in on a MAC nor windows on a MAC im afraid and i have never used MAC im afraid

do you have a full blow windows PC just to test on to make sure tha player and the USB cable are OK, do you have another USb cable at all to try?? and have you connected the player to a hub or direct to the USB on the main machine

No, I don't have another cable. The Mac is dual booted with Windows XP and it still doesn't show up.

You could try briefly depressing the "reset" button on the left-hand side of player. Then try connecting. If that doesn't work - try disconnecting it - then restart windows - do the reset and try again.

Nope, Nothing. I tried another cable and the same thing. The battery graphic comes on showing charged and nothing else. I did the reset and still nothing. Doesn't show up anywhere as a drive or storage device. AWWWWWWWWWW.

You need to get access to a regular windows pc, preferably one with XP.

I would think that the problem is for one reason or other this player isn't compatible with Macs or at least yours.

Is the device turned ON before you plug it in?
