I've started looking into jz4725 players (because they are cheap enough to buy two at a time) and much to my surprise I encountered "Chinachip4725" where I expected to see "Rockchip".

Case in point: the KNC M-700. You may have seen the blue/orange KNC M-700 on several sites, sold under different names.

Now, the question is where to get these KNC, DeLUX or unbranded jz4725 players from (I would prefer to buy from this site, obviously).

The next problem is most sellers probably don't know or care what they are selling, so you might end up with another rk2706.

yeah, got to be carefull from other sites as the ingenics version were not that popular and only seen a few myself and the rest were rk devices, but not sure where to buy them at all, one place did do KNC but not now, they are not really available much and TBH i dont really think they took off as they came out just as ingenics were going out of favor as the big chip, then rockchip took over, so may just not find any im afraid

maybe put out a plea for donations of player, then you could pay the carriage, or something

Are we talking about the same chip? This jz4725 has been upgraded, I think. It's being used in new MSI players as well...

Have you ever seen the term "Chinachip4725" before, because I haven't. For old jz4732 chips you would see just "Chinachip". They must be reusing the old body of the KNC player. The jz4725 is probably ten cents cheaper than the rk2706...

I could give you the link, but I'm not sure I can do that. Google for Chinachip4725 KNC M-700. It's the second link.

its only alibaba link so no worries there

yes, 4725, i have seen that now and its the other version of the chip isnt it, that ran along side the 32/40 chip at the same time .. its all coming back now, but take with a pinch of salt the stuff on what chip is used as it can be, as you have seen, misleading

wonder if raz has any optimus steel players left as this was a ingenics no brand player they sold back in the day

either way i have not seen anywhere to buy these now, in unbranded form you will never know what you are gouing to get but the mass of these seem to be rockchip and any seller may have lifted specs for their player from anywhere that has a player that "looks" like it, hence why there is always doubt about what is real and what is not

The interesting thing about the jz4725 is that it's at the same clock speed (360 MHz) as the others now, if we can assume the old version was the jz4720 @ 240 MHz.

They are now popping up everywhere, for instance under the name APTO, once you start looking.
