How goes the cable build?

I'm now finishing the HM3 recable. I only need the little plugs for the HM5 and the splitter but it takes a month to get home. This weekend I'll post some pics of the results.

What are you doing to the HM3? I'd like to make the cable detachable if I can.

Is it? I looked at it, but it didn't look detachable, so I didn't try. Didn't want to break it. The HM5 is detachable.

atomkn00b probably thought you were talking about the HM5's because this is a thread about the HM5. The HM3 DO NOT have a detachable cable so you were correct in your assumption and smart by not pulling on it lol.

Dragon, I just got my HM3 today and I have HM5 on preorder. I'm using an ipod, Fiio E11, and an L9 LOD. Can you sum up what to expect when my HM5 gets here as compared to the HM3? Also, are the ear cups any larger on the HM5 than the HM3? I must have really big ears as my entire ear never fits inside the cup, unless one's ear lobe isn't supposed to fit inside the cup : ) I'm really enjoying my HM3.
Thanks,
Steve

@ciborg Nice work on the longer cable! Look forward to the HM5 mod :)

@SteveSatch The cups on the HM5 are quite a bit larger and deeper than the HM3's,so you shouldnt have any troubles there. As for what to expect, well the HM3's and 5's are quite a bit different. The 3's are alot more bass happy, with a smooth mids and decent highs. It definitely has its own sound signature. The HM5's are an entirely different beast. They are dead neutral, with a sound signature that you can mold to any way you like. I find the spaciousness of the 5's to be more open than the 3's, with a stronger sense of definition. Thats not to say the 3's lack definition, just that the 5's are a lot more so. You should enjoy them seeing as you enjoy using amp's, it allows you to shape the sound any way you like it ;)
