Hmm i think it is time for me to give my impression abt the hm5. It is no surprise to say that i love how it sounds. I love the details, the high, the mid and the low. They are what i can call precise and to be able to hear what a song supposed to sound like is a great experience. I have a very limited experience with headphones, however there is one store in the city that allowa me to auditiom everything they have in stock, including the senheisser hd800. Well if u wanna know how they compare... hm5 is not even close then again looking at the price difference it is to be expected. However i manage to compare it to goldring d150 well it is an open back design but the gold ring can be abit harsh on the high note while i enjoy the high from hm5 better. Everything else seems to be on par or rather the hm5 sounds abit better.

Hm5 works really great if you have a great setup as well... tried listening to a phantom of the opera cd using denon cd player and hooked to mcintosh preamp unit and it sounded beautiful.. i sat there listening for over an hour without noticing that time went by. The only drawbacks i believe is thr lower end, in some songs i feel it can be slightly boomy.. but just very slightly. And the other part is that i dont think hm5 goes well with nanite n2 i found hm5 sounds abit muddled and somehow losing its soudstage. But put it back to my ipod it sounds very good.

I need to add that intried this headphone for gaming as well.. i think i can serve really well howeverpin pointing the enemy in fps game while it is great, i can say that the nature of the headphones as a neutral can, still not as good as the usb gaming headphones. But compared to siberia v2 from steel series i thinj hm5 offers a whole more enjoyable gaming experience. But then again steelseries headset can be had below 100 dollars. Comfort wise... nothing to worry abt. Hm5 is very comfortable... proven by my sitting in front of the pc playing space marine for more than 3 hours.

I think hm5 is a really great headphone specially for the price... another great product from mp4nation... now if only i can afford a great desktop setup.. :-)

Thanks for the review. I liked your feedback on gaming as it was certainly not something i myself had tried the HM5 on. I myself used to play a lot of fps back in the day from TFC, CS, DOD to MC2, but i never tried them with headphones, i always relied on speakers or even played muted (which i believe really hones a persons skills in those type of games).

I've been pondering making gaming headsets, but i am not sure as i will have to spend countless hours playing video games while i test out various headphones 8)

These reviews are killing me knowing my preorder still has about a month plus shipping time! I wonder if I'll want a second pair of HM3 or HM5 :) I'll be looking for any coupons on either to help me decide. I'm leaning towards HM5 as the larger cups will help me out.

Well Diablo 3 is coming out this year... that might be a very good excuse to spend countless hours playing games.. and you can even call it work... !!!

well aside from gaming headphones... how about wooden cup mods for the HM5 :D something cheaper than the fa-002 wooden cups... since they cost more than the hm5 itself.. crazy!!!!

Grab FedEx or EMS shipping to cut the shipping wait time, you'll be far happier if you splurge a little extra on shipping.

I never enjoyed diablo, but the new modern combat might be a good one to test it out on ;)

I usually buy my cords from monoprice.com. On their webpage I don't see any 3.5mm male to dual 3.5mm male cords to use in case the ones supplied with the HM5 need replaced. I only see 3.5mm male to single 3.5mm male for use with headphones that have a cord going into one side. Anyone see them on monoprice or know a place to get them cheap?
