Hi guys
I'm new to this forum, so greetingzz to all of you from the Netherlands! I have a problem you guys maybe can help me with.
My wife and I both bought an MP4 player. Nice thing, cheap, good looking, a bit like an iPod. They came with no firm name, but I found out that they are Rockchip players. One came with a 3" touchscreen (320x240) so I think it's the RK2608, the other came with a 16:9 2,8" screen, it's the Rockchip RK27xx. Both players should have (so they say) an internal Flash drive of 16GB. Since we have the possibility now to watch video's on our players I started to convert video's to avi files with several converters (I really like the Xilisoft converter, but others will do also). I spend hours and hours to find out what settings are required for the avi files. I became really frustrated by the "file format error" message the players kept giving after uploading the video's. But I held on, discovered much and got finally result: I got a movie playing! But here is the strange thing: I can upload one avi file to a player (with Windows Vista) and it will play. But the second avi file (for example the second part of a movie or even the same file under a different name) though it has exactly the same settings still results in the "file format error" and that goes for all the video's coming thereafter. I tried over and over again but it seems that it's just not possible to have more than one file in the VIDEO directory. The first file will play, all the others won't. Does this sound familiar to anyone? And what do I have to do to get the players the job done? Or is it just simply not possible to load more than one video to the players due to a memory issue? Help of any kind is very much appreciated!
Greetingzzz

Hi, how big r these files
in afraid you may bevictims of memory scam
Where did u buy payers from, if ebay what seller
The payer may appear to have the file but its what the hack does
How much were they

The players may actually be only 2gig, even though all things point to 16

Thanx for responding that fast :)
The avi files are about 600Mb, the players have cost about 55 Dollars (actually 42,50 Euro) and I bought them down here in the Netherlands, not via eBay. That what you said about memory scam is by the way something I already began to suspect. But how to find that out? Any idea? Thanx again!

It may not be but for that price its almost a cert that our seller has hacked players

Google for sosfakeflash tbey have info and testing tools

When u copy over the file that fails, is this bthe only file on the player or does the player already have files on, if not try removing all the files and the copy the file that claims format error and. See if it works

It may all be fine and aybe the conversion failed but what u r seeing is classic hack memory stufr here

I will surely follow up your recommendations. But I have this question though: when plugging the player into the laptop I can call the properties of the device by right clicking the mouse. The drive's capacity appears to be 15.2GB of which 'only' 1.51Gb is in use and 13.6 should be free. Could that be fake too?

yes, this is part of the memory hack, the hack makes windows see 16gb, makes the player see 16gn etc etc - even formatting the memory wont remove it - its nasty, evil and getting worse, i do not know where your supplier got them from, the could be innocent and bought them cheap off ebay or direct from china

try fill up the memory to the point its past 2gb - or appears and reports so, then copy - say a few photos on - do they copy over apparently fine, can you actually view them

That makes sense. When uploading the second movie of also about 600Mb the player doesn't respond correctly anymore with Windows. The connection becomes extremely slow as if data cannot be read accurately anymore. But the data limit of 2GB (if we are talking about real 2GB memory) is already overrun then. Now my suspicion is growing. Not against the seller - he gets the players directly from China, but wether the memory size is really 16GB. I keep on testing. I'll let you know. Thank you so far! :)

Ok, it's been proven now. I downloaded the testprogramm H2testw 1.4 via the site of SosFakeFlash that you suggested. I run the test on both players several times and it turned out that the capacities of the Flash drives were a lot less than the capacity with which was advertised. The drives were instead 16GB respectively 1.7GB and 1.8GB! You were right! Now we're gonna try to get our money back. Thank you for your info. It helped a lot. At least we know now what the problem was. It was not the video conversion (yes! I did it right :) ), but the lack of storage memory (bother! :? ). Next time we'll be smarter when buying an MP4 player...

Damn, sorry to hear that. It's becoming such a major problem. Better to buy named brand anyways. Even if the memory wasn't hacked on these, if they mess up, it's extremely difficult, if not impossible to find a firmware to recover the player with. Good luck in your endeavors, and welcome to the forums.
