DO NOT UPDATE YOUR VX858 ONDA CLONE PLAYER

Please anyone who has a player like this in the image below and it DOES NOT SAY ONDA on it the DO NOT TRY AND UPDATE THE FIRMWARE

YOU WILL BREAK YOUR PLAYER

If you have a player like this and you have come here looking for firmware then please think twice, there are so many different versions of this player made by many different factories at the moment that there is no definite way to tell which firmware you have on your player.

we can not and will not guarantee these firmware on out forum will work

At the moment we are seeing alot of people who have tried to update and are now seeing there player screen inverted and mirrored,

if you have bought a player that looks like this from ebay or another store and you feel it is not working right then DO NOT try and update the firmware to fix it, contact your seller and tell them you want to return it or ask them for an update, if you try and update it and all goes bad then you will not be able to send it back, so contact the person you bought it from FIRST

It is heartbreaking to see people come here and ask for help but at the moment the only way to even try and recover a dead player is to CONTACT YOUR SELLER


DO YOU HAVE A CD WITH YOUR PLAYER
Then odds are it is a generic cd and you can not trust the files that are on the CD, if you see a firmware file on it i would recommend not trying to update your player with it. The cd disks sent with these players from ebay etc are often wrong and not specifically for the player you have


DO YOU WANT A NEW THEME/LOOK FOR YOUR PLAYER
well you cant, if you do not have the official firmware for you player you can not change the way it looks. once again you will need the firmware for your player, and then you will need to modify it yourself


CAN THE FIRMWARE BE EXTRACTED FROM THE PLAYER

Sorry this was NEVER possible with these players or any players using the older rockchip RK26 series

please, if it is not broke then don't try to fix it, if it is broke don't try to fix it yourself - SEND IT BACK

Good post, i should have put up a similar notice earlier, would have saved a lot of time.

Just to quickly add, to those reading this and still wanting to 'update' your player to see what cool new feature there are or to see if audio/video playback improves

DON'T BOTHER

All the clones come with the latest firmware that rockchip made for this type of player, even if it says firmware version 0.0001 - its still the latest, don't use the firmware number as reference.

Ah dang i wish i had known this earlier. I had just bought an 858 clone from ebay out of sheer ignorance and greed. I found this site about 5 days later... that's a common story i'm hearing from a lot of newcomers like myself. I tried to update the firmare to get rid of those welcome/goodbye screens. Then i bricked it... But I've installed the Firmware_00.00.0002_2006.rfw file and i got it to work again which was awesome. But now another problem has occured. The screen is now flickering like an old crt monitor and the menu words are all backwards, even the welcome/goodbye screen. Any help would be appreciated.
BTW i love this site. I'm looking forward to newer products end of summer or winter time to get my hands on, no more ebay sellers. The person i bought this clone from has just been suspended... MP4 nation all the way.

please do not be tempted there is a distict 99.9% chance you will break your player, as your seller for any updates but there will be noe at all

I need one good, original firmware my clone mp4 players..
I try Firmware_00.00.0004_2008.rfw, but not good..

problem is that there is no firmware so far for this, you Must contact your supplier about this problem as no-one has a firmware yet to work with this problem, this is why i put up the warning

I read another forum, that I use my original cd, on there update program and original firmware..to be in right?
what the firmware file in cd?

please read first post, odds are that the CD will have nothing to do with your player - i can only offer this as advice, these clones are not quality products and no care is given to the accessories,

But then, how save the firmware from another clone mp4 players?
What program reading firmware from players.I make backup from good players and write to fail players..

ohhh, yeeeah.
Yesterday I repaired my clone mp4 players(screen inverted and mirrored).
Download from internet the original firmware file ( to MY players ) and flashed my mp4 clone players...
And very good works..

well done for soting this, you were lucky there, maybe this could be an option as a recovery file for people in the same situation as you, can you upload it of link it and i will add it as an emergency recovery firmware for similar situations
