Now i've suddenly got the problem that I can't update the firmware. Now it V1.0, but with the usual method with the volume down button and so on, I can't get the update mode. I've already tried installing from V1.0 to V1.1 and from V1.0 to V1.2 but nothing happens, it just boots normally. Before I always managed to install the new firmware.

Try renameing the file to SG301.hxf

so here, i uploaded it to my private server:
download writer tools from: http://code.doubleukay.com/vx747writer.rar

download a copy of the VX747 V1.0 firmware from ftp://ftp.onda.cn/download/driver/oamp3 ... _v1.00.rar

extract both files.

1. plug in your player and make sure that its under CHINA CHIP USB LOADER mode (check by clicking "safely remove.." icon in toolbar
2. load up the VX747.exe from the unzipped folder.
3. my print screen isnt working so i drew you up a quick diagram:

4. click the '...' next to where i wrote FIRMWARE HXF file, and load your V1.0 VX747 firmware file.
5. click BUTTON 2 and leave it. if it works, you should see the blank big box show some writing and a bar in between the bottom two buttons appear.
6. if your vx747 shows the usb connected screen, good.
7. reset your vx747 using the pinhole, while holding down the volume - button, this should reflash the firmware.
8. after upgrade complete, your vx747 should be good to go.

please note im writing this guide on the experience with my VX757, im pretty sure that the methods are similar though.

Nice find here. I did not half to go this route. But I was glad to add this to my software collection. Thanks!!

hi. I have a vx747 that came with v1.1

I upgraded the firmware to 1.2 and now it is telling me unknown file type for videos that played previously and my mp3s just sit there and stutter without playing properly. Also if it does try to play a video it locks up and I have to reset it.

Any suggestions?

when you repack your HXF, MAKE SURE that THUMBS.db is not included. that screws up the hxf.

Ok I didn't pack/repack it myself (don't even know how). I downloaded the file straight from Onda's site, transferred the file to my unit like instructed in this thread and held down the volume down key until the bar showed up and it updated itself seamlessly.

I've been playing with it and music files stop half way through. Some video files load and then crash the unit. Others just don't load at all. I haven't even tried pictures yet.

Perfect for me that don't undertand Chinese, but my plyer is recognized as China Chip PMP USBDISK USB Device and not the China Chip USB Loader
..

How can I make it so?

Thanks

With the player off. Hold the M button while turning on. The screen will remain black.
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot! Managed to reach loader mode. But the burning tool for the vx757 loops for hours without any success... Missing something?

Thanks

Tested on Vista x64 and the drivers (obviously) wot work...
After I started it on a Windows 2000 old laptop... Here I get the loop... Could this be the problem?

Thanks again
