Hello all,
I'm new to this mp4 stuff. I bought a onda clone off of ebay that looks like this one in the link.

It won't play protected WMA's. I bought them legally off of ebay. It will play mp3's but not those. It says something about format error. I put the same songs on my coby player and it plays the songs just fine, with no errors. My manual says it supports WMA, but evidently, not protected WMA's.

Under version it says Software:PMP MLC v3.0.2.3 Hardware:Magic V2

Please don't tell me I am stuck with converting these to MP3's?

If so, anybody know where I can get some free conversion software. I have tried a bunch but I can't seem to get them to convert. This player came with some AVIconverter 3.0, but it's all a bunch of question marks on the buttons, and most of it appears to be written in chineese. GRRRRRR. LOL

Anybody have any answers for this poor sap?

first off this is not an onda clone player
There are no update at all for this players firmware so you are stuck with the functionality that comes with the player

an they do not player protected files of any sort

mp4nation used to sell these also and called it the optimus touch (i think)

have a look in the optimus section as there are several writing about this player there, as for a video convrter try downloading vidrop from http://www.mympxplayer.org, its free, in many languages and works well

basically it wont play protected files but should player unprotected WMA fine, as for converting or removing the protection then i am not sure about that but i am sure a user will know something that wil work

Thanks for the reply. You wouldn't happen to know where in the optimus section they were talking about my particuliar player, do you? I looked but couldn't find anything that I could nail down to be sure they were talking about the one I have.

I can't believe they sell a MP4 player that you can't play your bought songs on. With my other player I have to reload them every now and then, because it says no license, but I just reload them off of my computer and they will work for a while again.

Not playing legal protected WMA songs. GRRRRR. LOL

Most music download services that have DRM protection, have a list of compatable players or list what requirements a player will need for protcted music to work on it, for the most part, most MP4 players can't work with DRM music, the Meizu M6 can, but from what i heard the compatability isn't always 100% with that player.


However you may want to change music services from Walmart to Amazon.com, which offer their music DRM free (and from what i remember is about the same price as Walmart), you can use legally downloaded songs from Amazon on your Optimus player.
