Do you have a link to the original "Mini Me-Goodbye" firmware. I have the clone, tried both of those below, however, they are missing an option. OK, I'll start at the beginning.

On random move for music play, it isn't random at all. I have 100 songs (just testing right now), and on random mode, selecting "next" selects a song with the following distribution.

song 1-10 - 40% of the time
song 11-25 - 25% of the time
song 26-50 - 15% of the time
song 50-75 - 10% of the time
above 75 - 10% of the time

So, you will hear a song 5 times from the start of your songlist before you hear it at the end of your songlist. (I am still waiting for it to hit some songs number 90 and above for the first time, and have been testing for 2 days now).

So, to fix this, with original firmware, under Settings-->Music, I select "Random" on Play and "Once" for Repeat. This forces the player to select from a shrinking list of songs and you will hear all songs once.

Well, under "Repeat" with the firmware's listed, there is "Random" or "Intro", no once option. Intro is no good, you hear the first 5 seconds then the player stops. Going back to "All Random" and you are stuck hearing lower numbered songs at a much higher rate than higher numbered song. (I learned that the player doesn't sort them based on name, but when they are placed on the player). So, you hear the oldest songs MUCH more than the newer songs.

I believe I have an older firmware from YZ Digital that has the "Mini MP4 Player" startup screen and "Goodbye" as the shutdown screen, though I don't think it will fix your problem.

I'll post it anyways tomorrow.

I downloaded and installed that, and while I am still missing the "Once" option under Repeat, the new interface is far too great to worry about it. I will find a way to work around this. Thanks for the firmware man, I hope you get paid for that.

Aside, do you have more than "All Repeat" and "Intro" under Repeat Mode? Some day it will be back.

could you please post the .lst files for the firware of the different VX858LE clones so i can edit the firmware.

The normal VX858LE clone firmwares (00.00.0020 and 00.00.0001) have a compatible .lst file for RKLogoEdit, which you can download here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T8USAKJT

There currently is no compatible .lst file for the 00.00.0002 firmware or the 00.00.0005 camera firmware.

I am borrowing a SUPER*TALENT Vidego28 (rebranded ONDA VX858) MP4 player right now and I checked what was in the Repeat Mode thing and it only had those two options you mentioned. This rebranded VX858 is currently using the latest available firmware for it, 00.00.0021 which was made in early 2008.

I wonder where it went? I'll post a question on the main forum for someone who still has the "Mini-Me:Goodbye firmware" Thanks for the information.

HI. my clone is permenenatly locked after installing a firmware. how to i start the device in rockUSB mode so i can reinstall the default firmware???.... is there any way??? ime realy kinda desperate. thanks

It also makes a clicking sound after going through the boot screen. but ime shure it was the firmware update
