i have been converting dvd's to my G85 quite successfully for weeks now.
i just got in 3 new dvd's and performed the same process i always have.
But when i view it on my G85 or 9000HDA this time the video is trimmed on the top and bottom. Nothing i do will get me full screen. I am converting them to 800x480 and have tried every other format size and still the same thing. The only thing i can think of is that i restored my computer and when i reinstalled GOM encoder, it needed to find a codec for the .vob files. is it possible i got a bad codec that is doing this ?

When you re-installed your GOM Encoder, did you go back and change the settings to what you previously had? I know in the settings, on the video tab, there's a selection, "Stretch video to fit the output size".

Just so it's straight in my mind, are you saying that both players have black bars at the top and bottom of the screen? If so, then you need to set your encoder to remove the borders when you encode video. The Warrior Poet uses GOM encoder, I'm sure he can tell you which option it is you need to set.

EDIT: he beat me to it!

I just had a look at their help file online. The options you are looking for are the "Output Settings".

Here's a screenshot, it's the "ratio" dropdown box you're looking to change, along with ticking the box to make it stretch it.

Great response and thanks for the time in doing that! Yes i did try that and nothing helped. For what its worth i also tried 4 other programs i have on these 3 DVD's and they all did the exact same thing. No matter what i did i could not get the vid to fill the screen. SO, i restored the computer back again and this time it worked, Go figure!

SO tonight i will be watching a good movie on my PVP 8)

Thanks again guys for the great help!
