Sorry for silly question but how far in is the SD card meant to go and how is it meant to be removed?

There is no 'spring' in the socket - it feels like I could push the card so far in, it would never come out.

Same problem. But I can take it back using scotch (sticky) tape.
Cut little piece of tape (0.5 x 2 cm approx) and try insert inbetween SD card and slot (sticky side to card).
Hope it will be helpful.

Stupid question but you are putting it in the right way right?

Your "print" could be stuck in the inner postition (happened to me on another SD-card reader not the MIDnite), use above tip to use a piece of tape on the top of the card, and then push it in as far as you can, hopefully you will get the sprint to spring out, if not, well you have to keep doing it the tape-way :)

I thought I'd actually done this but no, it is in the right way. I was able to flash to ADEPTUS' FW from the card.

The SD card does go in quite a bit so that it does sit recessed. Normally i use the nail on my finger to get in there to push down on the card, when you do that you will hear a click and it will pop out. People with big fingers may find it a bit hard to get your card out.

I use slylus for this. But I don't hear any click and SD card doesn't come out. Only scotch can help.
Very cheap slot. :(

There is a click when it goes in and click when it comes out, the sound is very faint, but the click is the locking mechanism, without it the card would not sit in place properly.
