Cube H800: docking station, open source

Postby nlite » Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:49 pm

This is apparently what they mean with dual Linux, desktop and mobile use, although they mention Android. It's unclear if the docking station itself has a keyboard and mouse. Unfortunately, it uses the jz4750 instead of the jz4755, but that's because you can't connect USB dongles to a jz4755.

BTW, it would be nice to have a separate area for the Cube models.

really i can do that ;)

I hope the H800 doesn't have the same problem as the B53wifi did in having a very slow interface and the main chip being over taxed.

If it's going to be just a B53WIFI + TF + USB Host then it still beats a Skytone Alpha-400 (jz4730) for video. It might beat the Q5 as well (because Ingenic gives src for an _optimized_ Linux mplayer). But to start competing as a LIMP with these two, RAM should at least double (from 64 to 128 MB). The amount of RAM will show how serious they are.

New pictures.

Mouse implies USB Host.
Stylus implies touch screen.

nice find, will add it to the blog tomorrow

but all i can say is that if they do a half ass job as they did with the B53Wifi, then i am really not looking forward to this player, i bet it will be a low cost wifi player, but i really wonder how well it will work, if its slower than a Q5, which is already slow, then they may as well not bother with this device.
