Hi, bought this player on ebay two weeks ago, not this particular auction but one like it. I have no Idea who makes it and I hope I will not get into trouble posting this link. It was a birthday gift for my daughter.

She was playing with it last night and found an option to reformat under tools, she swears she hit cancel, but it reformatted anyway. And now, when you turn it on, a picture of my daughter and her friend appear, then the screen goes blank. The power won't shut off unless we "pin" the reset button. I contacted the seller and she was nice enough to send me all the software. But when I hook it up to my computer, my computer doesn't recognize the player at all. We have used two USB cords and Two computers so I know its the player that is the problem.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Does anyone have any suggestions ( other than buy a new player ). I figured if anyone would have a solution it would be you guys . My daughter is extremely upset and before I fork out more cash to replace it, I want to exercise all my other options.

Perhaps you have the wrong software. I haven't seen this player before, but the price would seem to indicate a Sunplus chip inside. At mympxplayer.orgthey might help to identify it and locate the right firmware.

Thanks, no need now.. I asked the seller to send me the name of the manufacturer and instead, he is sending me a new player, its already in the mail and I have been sent a tracking number. My daughter is very happy.

I have a idea. Why don't you try to fix that one to see what you can do with it in case the new one doesn't work again? (touch wood) You have a helper here anyway.

This is an anyanka chipset player, so make sure that you have the driver installed on your PC for it to detect it properly, otherwise the recover tools will not work proeprly.

BTW this particular chipset can be a real B*tch to fix, you may have to send it back to seller to get it fixed, which if they send it to the factory can get it fixed easily.
