Hello
I get the 2.5 HDD Player like this *no linking to other stores please*
It can't play MTS files copied from camera (1080i MPEG2-TS ~15Mbps). I think it's strange - if the player support MKV with H.264 but don't play MPEG2 files. My other player, Nationite HDVP2 do.
So, I think that it is forware problem and try to find a firmware update. There is a name on board, SASTMD.COM but I can't find any firmware at that site.
The device use Boxchip F10 chipset and can be compatible with other players using same shipset.
So waht I want to try - if any Boxchip F10 player supports MTS files and it has firmware download available, maybe this firmware fits my player. Uffff :)
If you know other Boxchip F10 players having firmware upgrade available, please give a link.
PS: Sure, seller says that it is latest firmware but it dated 12/2010. It is hard to believe in this.

Hey!

If you're having issues with MPEG2 files, then try using tsMuxer and remuxing the files to .ts files.

Lots of DVR's record live TV to .ts files in MPEG2 format, there's a good chance that the player will support them.

all you can do is search for other players based on the F10 and see if any have released updates, but be very very careful as it may not be compatible and you may break the player if you do not have the original firmware

there is also no guarantee that an update will have this codec included and i can well believe it has the latest firmware

this nis the site
http://www.sastmd.com/
the player says it plays .ts files, all i can think is that the files inside the TS file are not handled by the player, i cant see there being an update for this

Oh ok, let me wave my magic wand and make that happen.

/me waves invisible wand around

How'd that work?

Remuxing with tsMuxer doesn't take long, it's a hell of a lot better than having to re-encode the files. Personally, I'd rather do that than risk bricking your player with dodgy firmware. But the choice is yours. Good luck!

Actually, I searched the way to make some (lite) processing, at least merging several episodes in one.
It will be more comfortable to use.
Gone to look tsMuxer :)
Anyway, there is another problem found with this player - no CVBS signal. I need this feature to connect it with old tv.
Maybe firmware problem too...
