i just ordered my fist os81 but i have been doing alot of video editing for other players and there is one program that stands out but unforunatley it does come with a price tag
avs media converter will converet any media to any other media type (avi to mpg to mp4 to 3gp)
the other thing i would recomend is checking out softpedia.com they usally have a lot of good free software and then the last but not least and always free is to google any open source media converter the open source community poors there heart and soul in to the programs to promote a free and open world i hope this helps

I'm using Vidrop and it's free and pretty good. However the out of sync problem has been going on and experienced by a few including me. Perhaps the next firmware will solve this.

I would recommend Vidrop also and just remember to keep the audio bit rate under 500kbps

if your downloading the movies that are about 800mb and in xvid format, then you should never have an issue with getting them to play fine on your player

I always used FormatFactory, works for Audio and Video.

Does some weird file types too, like Flash FLV's and the 3GP's the cellphones like to use.

just stumbled across this initial test seems good fast and easy
http://koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
you do not have to install the tool bar
newer version doesn't seem to work with vob files here's an older version that does
http://www.tucows.com/preview/518513?q=Converter

never mind, the first one I did worked great, had diferent problems with the others that I tried, all vob files, doesn't work good for me on vista. Hope some one else has better results because it seemed promising
