Can't seem to make anything with MKV or H264/x264 work on my Ainol V8000HDX. Anything that is 720p or above, just doesn't work. The explorer doesn't even detect the file. A few MKVs did work but then they were all like 400 mbs for a full movie, really low resolutions. Can't really figure out where to get the latest firmware downloaded, maybe that will take care of this.

Can anyone help me out?

PLEEEEEEEEEEASE! Pretty Please!

The mkv videos you are trying maybe encoded to avc (advanced video codec), these devices do not support that format. Check using matts link or using format factory and checking the file info using the built in tool on that.

i have an onda based on the sc9800 and it plays all my MKV fine, made using MATTS guide and tools
if you are not converting these yourself then you really don't know what you are getting, its always best to create yourself for best performance

i cant see a y firmware at all for this player, not even the original firmware so no hope there and there wont be anything forthcoming so dont bank on that, you just need to sort your files and all will be ok

this is the MKV i use on my - as you can see it aint HD in any form but it plays perfect on the player, these were produced using MkeMKV and handbrake

Maybe this? The one that would work has this Format profile: High@L3.0

The one that does has Format profile: High@L4.1

Have no idea what that is tho.

They're not important. They're hints for dumb players that can't read inside the file.

There isn't anything interesting or unusual about either of those files. Can you try remuxing using my guide here and see if the player will see the newly mux'd file.

Also, give the file a shorter and simpler name "Terra_Nova_01x05" for example. This could just be a filesystem issue if the player isn't seeing it at all.

If remuxing the file and giving it a shorter name don't help. Use mediainfo on the new file and post the info.

The player already sees it it just try's to play then skips to the next video on the list or sits there at 0 seconds if its the only video in the folder.

Hmm i didn't think of that before shorter name ill try that next time i deleted the file after i converted it.

Ok tried shortening the name and that didn't work either i test what will work on my ainol v8000hds by running it first with KM player if it works it will run on my media player if it doesn't then it wont and all i get playing is the sound no video so there is defo an incompatibility with the video part of the file.
