Success!!! Connecting the VX787 to Ubuntu 8.10

Postby jesusprice » Tue Nov 04, 2008 8:37 am

I know that my fellow nationites have been having issue getting ubuntu to recognize the VX787. For some reason it just would not mount.

But I just recently upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu 8.10 and right out of the box my VX787 works like a charm. No need for any code or anything.

In a word " Linux"

More -

Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you'll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools.

Ubuntu is and always will be free of charge. You do not pay any licensing fees. You can download, use and share Ubuntu with your friends, family, school or business for absolutely nothing.

it's a free OS.
you don't need it to run the player. it's just for the people that run linux that have been having problem to just update to ubuntu 8.10 so the player can be recognized. but if you have windows or mac your good you don't need to worry about it. :)

sorry I didn't want to mislead anybody I didn't add the ubuntu os to the 787

but I'm pretty excited that the recent update by the ubuntu community works well with my player.

If you have followed earlier threads about using linux with nationite, and other players it is kind of frustrating process to get some of these mp4 players to work with linux.

Arghh, I thought for one divine moment you'd put together a piece of tech we ought to have by now (at least): a basic functional hand held comp at a reasonable price...

Oh well, maybe next century :o ops:
