RAmos T12 observations

I'm using my T12 now for some days and I have to admit that I don't feel comfortable with it at the moment.

Maybe you experienced the same? Please let me know!

Let me explain my problems with the T12:

The picture is too 'light', there's not enough saturation in the colors, everything looks washed out.

During playback of (MKV) h.264 material (I mainly have that) it looks as if the deblocking only takes effect every couple of seconds...
Mhh, I can't describe the effect properly. The movie looks all grainy and blocky and a bit like 256 colors dithered. And then suddenly all looks quite good for a very little moment. The picture is soft with fine color nuances. These changes in picture quality are repeating...

Same movie on the Cube H100HD just looks fine...

Is it only me?

These observations are pretty disheartening as it took a long time to choose between the Cube, Ainol and Ramos players and I finally decided on the T12 (for mkv). Both Ainol and the Cube have had firmware updates, so maybe the T12 will get one soon.

T12 is based on a different system than the cube and ainol (which are using same chip) the T12 is on a rockchip so wont follow the update pattern of the others but updtes will come, ramos are very good with updates (assuming rockchip provide them also) - unfortunately it does look like the cube is ahead at the moment in this areas buit ramos will follow soon i am sure

I really hope that there will be firmware update in the very near future!

Currently I'm using the 2.3.9 beta...

Since that update I can't fast foward or backward in a proper way. Mostly the image gets stuck and the sond plays on and sometime the movie plays but the sound is completely gone... Very seldom the movie plays on as it should normally do.
So I end up in a fast foward fast backward routine until the movie plays again correct

I wish I read your review before I bought this thing! I just got the player today and played with it. Wow, when you say colours are faded, you weren't exagerrating, the colours are so light! I copied the pre installed pictures and sample movies from the T12 and checked them out on my computer. The colours on these sample pics and movies are way over saturated! To make sure it's no my end, I tested with pics from the internet and the colours are all faded on the T12. It's ramos' end that is the problem.

Hi!

I like the Cube H100HD very much. It plays all the formats I need (mainly H.264/AAC in MP4 container) flawless...
The screen has good colors.

Though there are some bads:

My screen is somehow smeared from the inside

Looks like they did not clean the Plexiglas before assembling the device...

The UI should be reworked for the Cube. It feels always strange to operate with the semi-scrollwheel AND the buttons...
This is because the UI works vertically (scrollwheel) and horizontally (buttons) (This works better on the Ainol HDV/HDS which has only buttons).
It should just work vertically, so that you can always use the scrollwheel...

It's a nice player if you can live with that!

@Raz: Yes, we need a Cube forum!!!
