Got to say the UI is looking pretty slick and well made. The entire interface is made quite well, a lot nicer than it was before. I was suprised to see that they had the multi touch so smoothly implemented, so far most Chinese companies have not been able to implement smooth multi touch image resizing.

I really wish they would hurry up and get their license issues resolved and get this baby out.

I bet J Wong is hopping mad right now. Someone translated one of his BBS replies threatening legal action against CNMO and/or the beta tester...good luck with that in China.

The UI looks smooth as butter; all that horsepower under the M8's hood is being put to good use.

The song playing is "Gotta Have You" by "The Weepies" from their album "Say I Am You".

I've been a a member of the meizume forum since it's early days and have spent almost 2 years writing and discussing the M8. What many many people often don't understand is what this company has achieved over such a short period is truly astonishing.

Just the fact that they have built what looks to be a very nice hardware configuration and a well implemented completely custom touch based GUI, esentially from scratch based on a system architecture (Win Ce 6.0) that currently no other phone (or none that I am aware of) manufacturer is using is an unblievable achievement for ANY company let alone a relatively small MP4 manufacturer from china.

If this device functions as well as the videos would make us believe, Meizu will have esentially achieved what NO other multi million $ cell phone manufacturer has been able to do. Create a touch based UI comparable to that of the iPhone.

They have encountered so many issues along the way too, with many people believing they could not do it and that the M8 would be assigned to the realms of vapourware. Not to mention all the hate they have recieved for what many missinformed people percieve to be straight plaigerism/cloning. Neverthless the M8 has grown and developed into what looks to be a unique product.

Meizu has in essence followed a very old, tried and tested business/R&D model. Look at the strongest players (not just in sales, innovation/design etc too) in the market, learn from their strengths and shortcomings and attempt to build upon that and create a comparable/superior product.

I really hope they manage to push through the final licensing problems and get the device out and functioning well. After all the time and effort and most importantly the attention to detail Mr Wong and his team have put in they deserve to see this device succeed.

When the 16gb model drops I will be picking one up as soon as I can.

Thanks

@sere83

I can only agree with you, Jack Wong has his own vision for his company and products. Indeed, there has been a lot of M8 bashing in the past two years, but Jack Wong stayed faithfull to his ideas. That man deserves all our respect for the extremely good products he makes for us. And yes, when the M8 is available from a trusted seller I will certainly buy one.

have been waiting for almost 2 years and still not release yet, I really don't know his business strategy, as the Chinese words 雷声大雨点少. Indeed, I am lost my patience for this.

The only mistake that Jack Wong made was the early release of his plans, if he would have said nothing untill i.e. two weeks ago nobody would complain him. And the multibillion dollar multinationals also just started to release their iPhone competitors ( Xperia, Omnia etc.) Basicly Meizu is on schedule. And based on the curent information, pics and videos, the M8 blows them all away.

I think it's pretty simple:

1. Follow the money, which is not in MP4s anymore.

2. Build aspirational, high-margin products that people are willing to pay top dollar for and are happy doing so (hmm, that seems familiar...just like the M8 seems kind of familiar).

Looks great; however, Wong needs to get his material to market much faster. He's behind in the game plus he now has to sell his expensive player in a global recession/depression. Maybe we'll all get super deals on it?

When I see customer reviews that say its a great product then I will believe it, until then I'm just gonna hope its good like everyone has for the last 2 years.

I'll give Mr. Wong praise when I see happy customers buying a m8

well one thing Meizu is known for is delivering solid products, i think the factor that is going to make or break this product is if they waited to long and with this real **** storm brewing in China with economic woes, will it break their bank account.
