Well as i have mentioned before, i eventually came across this site after being a lil bit unwilling to pay a premium for 'larger named' branded players eg Cowon, Archos etc.

So i dip my toe into the great lake of Chinese mp4 players.

I ordered the S:flo on a Sunday, and 6 working days later it arrived at my work. Now that was seriously fast, much better than i expected, and arrived in excellent condition.

The exterior packaging was well presented with very professional looking style, and it didnt take me long to crack thru the layers and fish out all the extras and the player itself.

Well, the S:flo.......i wasnt sure what i was expecting, but i wasnt expecting the immediate feel of "wow, this thing is solid!" Such an excellent size and weight, and i was VERY impressed with this.

The UI is easy to navigate as a complete beginner to touch screens, and within minutes i had sussed out the major menu functions, and was pleased to find a lack of useless widgits or addons.

The screen seems responsive and looks sharp, if a little plain, but navigating my music was no problem.

The sound itself i would descibe as 'very good', with some good EQs to play with. I couldnt get a decent seal with the supplied Brainwavz, and consequently i wasnt keen on their sound. However hook up the S:flo to my own 'phones i get a sound which almost seems to be a match for my iRiver Clix2 (which now feels very plasticky in comparison).

The video playback is fine, i wouldnt use it as a dedicated player, and i assume its not meant to be, but its fine to pass the odd 30mins watching some AVIs. I am still experimenting on whats best to convert to for best playback, some work fine straight from my PC (axxo, some tv dls etc) and others seem to struggle / desync (some tv dls eg my fav twoandahalfmen :)

Oh and the supplied pouch is absolutely fine :)

So, overall -

i) v quick postage, hope i get the same speed on future orders!

ii) solid feeling player

iii) very good sound quality, and decent enough video

I would recommend this player to people who wish an excellent value for money mp4 player, and for who touchscreen is a must.

Very happy.

Thanks for reading!

PS i also got a Fiio E5 delivered in a week, and its a good match for the S:flo.

hi

glad you like the s:flo and yes, the weight and quality of the body is way beyond it price tag

as fo vids, yes, occasional viewing i would say, sync comes for to high a settings, i use 480x272 now, bigger than the s:flo screen but it seervers for both my 4.3" screen and the s:flo, use AVI with xvis at about 500kbps and mp3 for ausio, but keep audio bitrates to about 96 and sample rate to 44100 and you will be fine, also it will play youtube direct without conversion (not high def ones though)

glad you like the player

Glad to see you are enjoying your new player, don't forget to try the MSEQ bass setting, that really a great feature on the S:Flo and all RK2706 based player.

Hey, do you have the 'out of phase' problem?

I've read what the out of phase problem is 'sposed to sound like, but i cant hear anything but juicy sound from my S:flo using pretty good IEMs, so if i do have it, i cant hear it :)

Thnx Raz for the EQ tip, at first i didnt like it but have perservered and its now my default setting....the MSEQ bass setting, thru an E5 with the bass boost OFF. Makes my previous setting (rock or jazz) seem very thin by comparison.

Used my S:flo this evening, walking the dog, in beautiful sunshine, while listening to Loaded (Duff McKagens band) then a bit of ACDC Back in Black (woot only 8weeks until the Glasgow gig!). Great sound, top stuff.
