RAmos V8
Ondas recent release of the VX767, 4.3" TV-OUT wonder players has obviously got RAmos in a bit of a corner.

So in what appears to be desperation to get something out and on view their marketing team have been at it again and mocked up this player:

This is the
V8

Yep, the V8 is basically the RAmos offering to go head to head with the new onda player.

All specs are just rumour at the moment but are as follows:

* Use of RK2706 Rockchip chipset, as in previous models
* 4.3" screen
* Possible touch screen
* Possible camera
* TV-Out functions

These specs and the images are all just speculation, so we wll see how this progresses. Basically this is al an artist impression, very easy to do so don't yet believe all you see, especially where RAmos are concerned

But look at the image and think that this is a 4.3" screen and there is also a great big chunk of blank space to the right of the player which will make this even bigger than the onda vx767, which is itself as big as the psp player

NO RELEASE DATE AS YET SO DON'T ASK :D
edit - release possible at end of the month (may)

yeah with that big black bit at the end that will be one big ass player for sure! To be honest I'm not sure I have much faith in ramos after the whole RM970 fiasco. I just don't think Ramos' RK2706 chipset firmware is ready to play back high res video well and could really pull off tv-out properly, not to mention ramos' history of creating poorly thought out FW. Let's face it ramos aren't exactly known for strong battery performance or producing good looking FW with minimal glitches. They always seem in a hurry to put something out no matter how lacklustre the quality. I think the Onda VX767 looks far more promising, nevertheless I'm sure that might not perform to it's full potential either. Nowadays, unless a Chinese player has Meizu or SmartQ written on it (not 'Meiza Star' or 'SmertQ', hahaha) I would have to see a long indepth review before thinking about purchasing.

It will be quite interesting to see if this is a touch screen, but Sere83, you are right, with that black bit at the end and the already big screen, this will be one large player. The VX767 is a big player, i really don't even want to think how much larger this will look.

On a side note, i think the firmware for the RK2706 is not entirely the same for touch screens as opposed to non touch screens. I've just seen a few touch screen RK2706 players and they pretty much operate different and seem more developed. However this was just a surface observation, once i get a few samples i will let you know more on how they differ.

yeah would like to know about the whether it's touch screen too. It seems so strange to me that no manafacturer chooses to take the middle ground (apart form a couple of older jxd units) and put a 3.5 inch screen on their players. Seems like the perfect max screen size:portability ratio. Have they never seen an ipod touch? it is clearly the perfect size for a dap as it is small yet still has a large sscreen. I do think the Rk2706 does have a lot of promise and I hear they are releasing an RK2708 and an Rk2710 too which sound good. The only problem is the age old chinese dap problem....firmware. I'm sure with the right FW programming the Rk2706 could really shine as it does appear to be quite capable, despite the fact it has been so far only used in units with pretty poor FW. God knows what the GUI will look like on this one, the RM970 certainly looked nothing like the first renders. Here's some more >>

http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/15/ramo ... ia-player/

looks suspiciously like the interface for certain iriver players

As far as that big black chunk of wasted space on the right, I'm guessing their art guys were just painting something that looks like all the smaller devices. They probably weren't thinking about size and that a device with such a large screen is already big enough to contain hardware without needing all that extra space on the end.

Very nice, clean, crisp lines on it. Frankly, because of the "black end" it might be better suited as a 3.5" screen player.

But the TV out would be a huge advantage that people would love to jump on, I'm sure.

I'd love to see that feature standard on a lot of the newer players now that onda and ramos seem to be leading the way (outside of the hdd player industry, of course).

yeah i saw them, was just about to post it, looks nice

Chinese MP4 makers now have two type of touch screen UIs, one called full point touch screen - this is like the new Teclast T50 or the M-Touch screen, where the touch screen is responsive and you don't need to press on specific areas for action to happen - like the scrolling fucntion and such.

Then there is the old single point touch screen UIs, this is like the VX767 or the VX858le screens, which aren't as responsive and need to press in specific places.

I wonder which one the V8 will be, from the last pic, there the person is pressing a certain button on the screen, it seems it might be single point.

ok i have been looking at all this a bit closer and the 'T-Click' UI they are saying this player will have, i have to say, i don't think this will be a touch screen player, i think its a new take on the push button on pressure/thermal sensitive buttons, probably the buttons being on the side, top and bottom of the screen.

from what i could gather the T-Click actually gives physical feedback, so whilst the button may be virtual, you gat a feeling/sensation/vibration or something so it feels as though you have clicked a real solid button. Not sure but this is what i make of it and if it is worth all the fuss remains to be seen

On imp3 there was some real pictures:
http://www.imp3.net/articles/1/2008_05/18609_1.html

T-click basically should be like the clix2,it's some real click button (not tactile) under each sides of the screen,so you basically have a cross.
Hacha also used this method in 1 of their model,the pc18 :
