RAmos has announced that it will be introducing another new player to the market, it will use the Rockchip RK27o6 chipset, the same chip used in their very popular RAmos RM970 player. The RM965 will have a 2.8″ WQVGA screen with a 400×240 screen resolution. Apart from the slight screen size and body design difference to that of the RM970, the RM965 doesn’t really seem to add anything, unlike the RM935 however do expect the RM965 to be slightly cheaper than the RM970 when it does come out, which will be sometime towards the end of April.

This is basically the rm970 qith 0.2" lopped off the screen and the addition of some "usable" buttons.

Like raz said, nothing else is given by this player, it will be the same functionality as the other basic RK2706 players, though not as nice looking as the RM970 i feel the buttons at least will be easier to use than the painful ones found on its sleeker older sibling

but the main problem here is that it is based on the Rockchip 2706 and RAmos/rockchip have yet to make a decent firmware update that is worthy, the basic setup is nothing spectacular and updates that have come along so far introduce new bugs and rather lame attempts at extra functionality (that include bugs!!!!)

i would stay away from this for now until the firmware and therefore the functionality of the RAmos players VASTLY increases.

i have the RM970 player which is suffering at the moment as it seems this player is no more than some form of test player, being used as a live test for the firmware of a chip that should have not been released until at least mid 2008. It lacks any form of testing, severe lack of care and attention, fails in the most basic of functions and personally, i think it promises alot more than it can actually give.

phewww -that was a rant and a half - do you get the feeling i am a little, shall we say, ... "put out" by all this

they are somehow hypnotic, sending subliminal messages to your brain, in fact if you flip the image backwards you can clearly see the words "BUY ME NOW" :)

I agree with Manderin,

Nice looking player, pretty good hardware, lots of potential and the firmware is awful. Not that I am asking for much just and audio resume. I wish they would fix the current bugs instead of trying to add new features.....

i have had my rm970 for 5 days and no it does not do everything my archos 405 or my creative zen does, but i can say it gets louder than the archos and it sounds just as good or better than the archos or zen, it looks better than both, so i think the rm970 makes a decent addition to anyones mp3 player collection
