cheers rowwor but it also seems Ainol are confused as on their site they also claim the 5000HDG to have 5.0" 800X480 F15!!!
also the 8000HDR on that sheet says sc9800 but on site says F15
5000HDr does not even seem to be on the sheet

Ainol are so far up their own product name even they don't seem to damn well know!!!

Sorry I meant to post this long time ago but got distracted by Tax paper work.

I'm not sure where to go TBH, it is really confusing to me as well since they released so many models at the same time. I might ask the Ainol mod on imp3 if I get chance as the time difference makes hard to catchup with them.

i remember speaking to a lady from Ainol, their marketing rep on email and even back then she was confused between all the models and she was the one having to try and sell these things!!!
choice can be a good thing but too much choice just causes confusion, distracts the buyer, annoys the buyer, and turns them away to someone else with something more understandable - just look at apple, you get hardly any choice and the rest is history

as i pointed out above, there are discrepancies between Ainols own web site for the product and that spec sheet rowwor posted, so its still unclear
they prod page for that player states F15, the F15 TBH im not sure what the hell it is now, there is the F15 and F16 one which are both updated versions of the sc9800 and sc8600 but i cant for the life remember which way round it goes, logic suggests the F15 to be the lower of the 2 but im sure, as ever, logic has not been followed here
best way to tell is look at the ads from Ainol, if the claim FullHD 1280 or 1080P then its the chip based on the sc9800

this image from Ainol page shows 768P as highest res so the HDG is not based on the sc9800 chip but on the Sc8600 so is no good for full HD
