With the official unveiling still going on in Shenzhen, China, here’s the first look at the images coming out of that - the RAmos W7.
The much anticipated Android MID and 1080p PMP is still thin on concrete tech-specs but the above pic’s pretty revealing in how it’s looking.
More news as and when it comes in.

Although it looks very similar this is not the Evi Group MID, as that is made by a French company and does not have the buttons shown on the side and above the screen as that Ramos rendering shows. Neither is it the T11 which has a far larger bezel around the screen, and is not in a chrome finish either.

However...it does look identical to the very slim profiled Rockchip concept MID that Chinese tech sites Imp3.net and pconline.net got a hold of a while back. In this link imp3.net conduct a full tear down of the device >>>

http://www.imp3.net/10/show.php?itemid=21644

Notice the button configuration of the Ramos rendering exactly matches that of this device. This suggest that it almost certainly must be this device with ramos branding. We should find out for sure later today anyway...

If it runs Android it has to have a touchscreen... there's no way to enter text otherwise.

This just plays 720P videos, too bad when 1080P-capable MiDs are on the way and I think people do want a bigger screen size and resolution ( why do they are all still stuck at 800x480? ). There will be a 3G-built-in version of Ramos W7.

Quote:
Ramos W7 is based on Rockchip’s RK2808 chipset, with a 600MHz processor. It features a 4.8-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 780p support. It supports numerous video formats including MKV, AVI, RMVB. The device is very thin, only 2mm thick at minimum and 10mm at maximum. The price was also disclosed on the even, 1299 Yuan (about $191) for the 8GB version, and 1599 Yuan (about $235) for the 16GB version ( via ClonedInChina via PCPop )

Edited : my babe why the screen of the MiD is so dirty?

So it is confirmed that it is the Rockchip concept. This device is definitely one of the best looking devices I have ever seen come out of China, that slim profile is almost unseen on a device this size. People can complain about lack of 1080p support but personally I have little interest in playing back HD on a device like this. 800X400 panels can't display HD anyway and 720p is still very sharp and very nice to view on HD televisons although it is unclear whther this will have tv out.

Plus this is a portable device with low storage and you can't even store many HD videos on it as there is not enough space. Not to mention the fact that it will sap your battery in no time. Anything above 5 inch is again of little interst to me as this is a portable device to carry around and I already own a netbook.

The main selling points of this are the comparitively low price and the android OS. There is simply nothing on the market at this time for this price offering this kind of functionality. I am very excited. I will wait for a review that will hopefully emerge shortly and if all is well will be picking one up asap. I really hope it performs well as this is a huge step forward for Chinese pmp manufacturers.

I don't think it's that people want to watch all their video in 1080P, especially since there is barely any noticeable difference between it and 720P ... it's just that it's nice to be sure that your device can play anything you throw at it without having to spend ages reencoding some video you might have downloaded. That would be the only reason I would want 1080P playback.

+1

Okay there is no word on "HDMi" for the MiD at the moment too ( and how about GPS? ). Actually we don't realize much differences between 720P and 1080P unless we watch them on large screen. But a technology-up-to-date MiD is still a good thing, right :D then we wouldn't be worry about any kind of incapability. Anyway, the design is good.

Looks cool I want one.

I hope it's faster at running Android than most of the ones I have seen online. Even the RockChip demo seemed to be running slow.

Could the W7 mean it has a 7" screen, looking at the picture next to the T11 it does look bigger. I know everyone is saying 5 or 4.8 inch.

3G would be great if it works in North America :)
