What is a data phone & is the i9 a data phone?

Postby DrinkingStar » Fri Dec 05, 2008 8:22 am

What is a data phone & is the i9 a data phone? I ask because I am on a "Pay as you go" plan($.25/minute) with A T & T and they say that a data phone may not work with such a plan and that if it does then I could be charged $.60/minute for certain functions unless I subscribe to a data cell phone plan. They say a data phone has an operating system. Does being "Java 2.0 ready" mean the i9 is a data phone?

I presume you can DL music, photos & video from one's PC. Are the video, songs & photos converted automatically by the cell phone to play on the cell phone or is software needed to do that in the PC before DLing it to the cell phone?

a data phone would be a phone that would connect to the interenet via the phone companies connection (ie 3g and EDGE) to get email/websites/etc...

and no, the i9 would not be a data phone.
