Hi guys,

I'm looking for a good quality 7 inch player to watch movies on the train, long buses etc. My badget is generous; 200-250$ is still ok for me as long as it is worth it. So far I have read so many reviews I'm all confused.

I am considering the Ainol V8000HDY, but I read that its screen is highly reflective and I'm afraid the light from the windows would not let me enjoy my new large screen PMP.

What alternatives do you know about? I heard of the Bmorn BM-888F10 and of the Cube H900HD, I did not find a decent review that will let me know about the screen reflectiveness.

Help is very much appreciated!!

Well with your budget you could afford to pretty much get any chinese 7" players. I do not think that the screen used on the V8000HDY is less or more anti glare as any of the other screens used on 7" players, but i do not think you should have much issue unless there is always a considerable amount of sunligh coming through from the windows.

Thanks, but as I recall the Ainol V6000HDT is a much better screen - glare-wise, but I can't tell if this is so severe that I should lose a big size of the screen just to have this quality.

Otherwise: Any specific recommendations? What 7" player should I take? or maybe the huge P810? other brand?

I posted a lot of comments about the V8000HDY on these forums. I have a long daily commute on the Metro where I take 3 buses and 1 train to get to work. I have enought time to watch a 90 minute movie each way. I use my V8000HDY every day to watch movies and read ebooks. Yes, it has a reflective screen, but it's not that big of a problem. I have a OS-72HR, V7000HDK and this V8000HDY and I don't think this screen is really that more reflective than the others.

I really appreciate the 1024x600 resolution screen, but it has a bad bottom angle like all larger screen PMPs. I will absolutely recommend this 7" Ainol V8000HDY to everybody interested. Check out some of my other posts as well to see some of my views on it.

Also, before I bought the V8000HDY, I carried my Blackberry to read and 4.3" OS-72HR to watch movies. The OS-72HR has perfect screen angles, but I also had to be careful about reflections from the sun shining in from the windows of the bus and train. In comparison, I think the V8000HDY, Blackberry and OS-72HR all have the same reflective screen issues.

My tip is to turn the brightness of the screen up to the max 15 level when I'm outside on a sunny day. Also stand w/ your back to the sun when you're at the bus stop. On the bus or train, tilt the screen away from the windows so you don't get that reflection on your screen. I ususally I hold my PMP right in front of me like a PSP, but I do hold it one handed when I need my free hand to hold onto a pole when I'm standing up on the train or bus.

You may want to check out the P810, but it has lower resolution and is only a button player. I like buttons, so I wouldn't prefer a touch screen PMP, but w/ the V8000HDY, I've found that I use a combination of buttons and touch screen to use it the best. I'd like to see a video review that compares the screen performance, size and handling of the 7" and 8" Ainol players. I'm interested to see how much a difference the 1024x600 resolution makes on movies and PDF reading between the V8000HDY & P810.

I just read here the unboxing of the V8000HDY and the disappointment from the "grainy screen"...

I didn't notice a grainy screen. I compared the sample trailer clips on my OS-72HR and V8000HDY and the only difference I noticed was the screen angles.

I've watched more than a dozen full length movies on it so far and it doesn't seem grainy to me.

Do you watch HD movies? Someone said that the high resolution may be a downside if you're watching normal coded downloaded movies.
