The sound is excellent and well balanced with excellent bass and trebles with very good midtones but durability could be a bit better. The stress relief isn't very good. (Posted on 3/26/13)Overall - Works out of the box without burning inReview by Benny Wong

First, thanks to Fedex for the fast delivery, I got it in My hands in 1 day after I ordered!!Overall
Review on the R1, They sound better than Brainwavz M5 which I bought first. Bass is punchy and Highs are crystal clear. You can really hear the sub woofer in your ears clearly. Sound stage is wide. and for this price you can't go wrong with the Dual Dynamic Driver IEM.
Pros:
Wide Soundstage
Good Bass and highs
Weightless
Cons:
Body make of plastic.
Cable could be made of more high quality.

I received this earphone from MP4 Nation a month back. After burning for more than 30 hours, I can summarize my opinion as stated belowOverall
Build Quality and Accessories:
Brainwavz rocks again in showed their standards and brand in build quality. The build quality is quite good with red colored cable and L-shaped connector. The accessories include 4 sets of ear tips and a hard-plastic case with decent look. It also contains a connector pin to hook to DJ system or amplifier.
Sound quality:
The earphones is of dual driver - a sub-woofer and a tweeter. The effect of the woofer is so strong enough to produce punchy and strong bass. The tweeter helps the earphone in producing high frequency sounds. The mids are laid back a little bit. I think this is because of the effect of lows and highs.
The soundstage is above average compared to most of the earphones of same price range. Though these are not a detailed monsters but really good for bass lovers with a decent sound reproduction. (Posted on 3/24/13) - Great IEM with nice package, list of acccessoriesReview by Tom

I previously owned an M4, so i wasnt unfamialiar with the brand, i already knew it is good of build and sound quality aswell. Though its my first dual drivers (not sure if the earpods have dual drivers too) so i was very excited to receive this. It took 2 weeks to arrive to me, but i guess its on my country's postal service which held it for 6 days so its ok, btw it was free shipping so im amazed still.Overall
Anyway first time i opened up the box i couldnt see much,. just a a big carrying bag and the IEM. Im into comply foams, so i immediately started to search after them. It is a different type then the one was included with the M4s. I can say it is as good or not better than that!
Im only using it for a day but already impressed.
I also ordered a Fiio E02i along with these guys. I can say i can turn off equalizer on my phone and reduce volume to with a few bars and its still more than i need. And i love bass, a lot! :)
Verdict: I can only recommend these, even though i bought at full price, if you could grab it while it sales make sure you dont miss it!

In terms of fit, the number of adapters and sound quality, I have to say I'm quite blown away by the value of these IEMs.Overall
Strong, punchy bass, not overpowering, not muffled. They lack the strong clarity in treble of etymotics, but for the price and how well they fit, that's a small price to pay!
I think I've found a new every day IEM to accompany me! (Posted on 3/5/13) - Not that much satisfied Review by Aman
-
overall i am not that much satisfied with this brainwavz and i think it's a bit hyped on some forums .....!!Overall
packaging was great , there are a lot of accessories and different types of ear buds ....hard cover is good ..keeps it well protected , but the sound is where they lack ....
Bass is not that great , it lacks punchiness ...and becomes a bit muddy ...mids are very weak ...while treble is overall good and pleasant to my ears ....
i bought this to listen electronic ,dubstep, techno music , and after hearing so many positive i was quite optimist that they would do justice to my ears , but unfortunately they failed me ....and now i m saving bucks for high end iem .....!!! (Posted on 3/2/13) - Simply good!Review by VEYSEL

My friend has bought it after I got my M3, we compared it all costs, M3 has really quality structure solid design, R1 looks more fragile when you take it in your hand but they both have wide sound stage, maybe sometimes mid's are lower than M3 but highs and lows are similar to it, and really really good bass it has better than m3.I can say that if you want to have simple quality with lower price I can advice you to get R1, you won't regret it I think (Posted on 2/16/13)Overall - Very goodReview by Noel

Very good piece of hardware! Sound quality is 11/10 for the price and very ergonomic in the ear.Overall
I would give it a 5/5 but none of the Silicone pieces fit just right im my ear thus the 4/5.
Never the less I would recommend this to anyone! (Posted on 2/14/13) - Nice Soundstage, Could have done more with more Forward Mids and BassReview by GreenJ
-
First of all, love the case and plethora of accessories not to mention the multiple tips (including one pair of foam tips).Overall
Build Quality - Fair (A bit plasticky and the wire despite being quite flexible could have been a bit better in terms of sturdiness)
Design - Over the ear design is fine but prefer to use it as normal down-ward style
Comfort - Quite comfortable even after prolonged usage ( 6 to 8 hours)
Sound - Liked the soundstage which is good for its price.
Bass is deep but detailing and punchiness could have been more.
Mids - Sounds clear and crisp but like said could have been more forwarding and upfront.
Highs - No sibilance good enough. Fairly bright and by no means are sounded dull or recessed.
The only problem I have is, the overall sound is like they are in the background and I wished they had more forwarding mids and detailed or punchier bass.
Overall Rating ; 6/10
Conclusion : Good enough for daily usage. Want more details? Look elsewhere

First of all, good value for money! Paid $32 for a dual driver armature. Where else could you get that?!Overall
Was previously using a Sennheiser CX300II and bought a Shure SE215. The R1s are lacking the highs of the 215s and are also slightly muffled in volume. Then again the R1s are a third of the price of the 215s!
These make a good pair for simple and casual use. Comfortable fit and good isolation. One thing i find is that the wires when looped over my ear tends to fall out. Would at least like the wires on the ear to be a sturdier and bendable solid wire. (Posted on 2/10/13) - Great sounding IEM w/ Free FedexReview by memske

Great iems for the price. Not at par with the B2 with its right up there.

This is the most value-for-money pair of IEMs that i have ever bought. Good range of ear tips provided as well. Highly recommend this to everyone. (Posted on 2/7/13)Overall - Dual driver for 35$? WOW.Review by Frederic
-
I purchased this as an impulse buy. I already own a pair of Shure SE215's and Atrio M5's already... Great earphones, but both lacked something I couldn't quite put my finger on at the time.Overall
After receiving these (INSANELY fast I might add), I popped them in with shure foams... And my ears could not believe it. You can actually hear the dual drivers working separately. The soundstage is just perfect for me. Bass isn't too punchy, but envelops the ear. Mids are slightly muffled which is perfect for the type of music I listen to (Latin/Jamaican) and the highs are crisp and float right over the bass.
Build quality, as other reviewers have mentionned, seems flimsy... But hey, what do you expect with 35$ dual drivers? What I love about them is they're light and over the ear... Perfect gym earphones!
My only gripe is the tips. Comply foams in medium only. My ears use large... No biggie though. Oh and T-400? Sad times, all I have are T-100's to replace.. :(
After listening to these, I realized what felt wrong with the other two: Bass is lacking on the SE215 and is overpowered by the rest of the soundstage while the Atrios is the complete opposite. I never thought a 35$ pair of IEM's would make me regret spending on those two earphones. I've never seen a true dual driver under 200$... I didn't think I'd be this impressed with these... And this is after 10 minutes of music.

If these were a bit more mid forward i would call it a perfect iem under $50, but either way they carry a great value for what they offer at their current price.Overall
PROS
· Very good lows and awesome highs
· Wide Soundstage
· Full of accessories
· Bang for Buck
· Over the ear style
Cons
· Weaker Mids
· Average build quality
· Weird but unique design
Overall they deserve a solid 4.5 star for being a detailed yet fun sounding pair of iem at the same time (Posted on 1/14/13) - Best phone under 150$Review by R1owner
-
This is an amazing product at any price, but for under 40$ it's really unbelievable. They are clearly superior to Klipsch Image S4 II or Sony MH1C.Overall
Ergonomically, these are the best phones I ever had, they sit
in my ears securely. It took me a while to find the correct way to wear them though - the outer part must point down toward the earlobe. Of course, these are "over the ear" phones.
Sounds great out of the box, no burn-in is needed.
Best accessories I have ever received with an earphone -
very beautiful and sturdy case, 6.3mm adapter, airplane adapter and 8 (!) pairs of tips. The double flanges are pre-installed, and for a good reason - they sound the best.

I have had these for 3 weeks and after that time, I am VERY satisfied. I am previous user of KOSS porta pro, which I liked a lot for their V shape sound. They went dead, so I bought R1-s and I have to say they are much better. The sound is also V-shaped (I like it), but its much more detailed. Two speakers work perfectly together, not overpowering each other. First day I had to find out, which tips to use, because they change sound a lot, but I found the best for me. After 3 weeks I can (personally) say these are THE BEST EARPHONES under 80EUROverall
Pros:
- perfect sound quality
- very nice design (they are not as big as seems from the picture)
- plenty of accessories
- nice design
- surprising price
Cons:
- a bit harder cable (better to do some prevention at jack, where cable bends) (Posted on 12/20/12) - Absolutely stellar sound and comfortReview by Calvin

Bought them for my brother as a christmas present as his UE in-ears had started fraying.Overall
Gave em a go to see what my money had bought me, was FLOORED. These babies sound almost as spectacular as my Atrio M5's which set me back over 5 times as much at $200!
Comfort and fit are phenomenal, just bought another for myself.
(: (Posted on 12/7/12) - Getting almost everything out of this priceReview by Jordan
-
I am more of a headphone than IEM person, so spending on a reasonable amount and getting the best value out of an IEM is my goal. R1 definitely fits into my aim entirely.Overall
Many had reviewed R1 has a V-shaped sound profile to it and I whole-heartedly agree. The sound signature just lack that "lift" for me in the upper-mid range that female vocals seemed more laid back than male vocals to me. But that also meant musical genres like instrumental jazz, classical etc can sound more balanced in R1 than pop/rock.
The soundstage is arguably the strongest point of R1. It is more deep than wide. For an IEM, such soundstage is actually very amazing!
Although it is an over-the-ear design, I wear it straight down as wearing over-the-ears is a distraction for me. Any jaw movements of mine will change the fittings and sounds. Anyway, it is still ok to be worn straight down.
Amping is not necessary although clarity is that wee bit better and bass tighter with amping.
Really unfortunate is the cable construction is poorer than M1.
I had the M1 previously and I loved it so much. I believe I will love the R1 as much, if not more (because of the soundstage), as time goes for the IEM to fully open up and stabilise.
5-star rating is definitely not an understatement although I would like the cable to be similar to M1 and can be worn straight down to suit my personal preference. The sale price I got R1 for truly scores high in my book for its sonic/value ratio of performance for an IEM below $80. (Posted on 12/2/12) - Great bass for your buck.Review by Aidan
-
Under $50 with dual drivers! Incredible. Two drivers; one for the bass, and one for the highs, of which it does better than anything else in its class. If only it had a third for the mids, which definately take a backseat in these earphones would it get five stars. Still amazings IEMs and you wont be dissapointed 4.7stars (not perfect). (Posted on 12/1/12)Overall - Really good for the price.Review by reginickneo

I think I'll buy one more pair of these earphones, they come with a huge amount of accessories, and the sound quality is more than satisfactionally.Overall
The dual-driver also such an impressive thing, for this price it makes a real different earphone from the others.

-
The Brainwavz surprise me in a great way. This is the best IEM under US$ 50,00. Sound bassy, but when well drived by an amplifier with current and power this little guy shows more then you can expect! Other surprising aspect of R1 is the spaciality sound, with a good sound stage formation. Sometimes the R1 could seems dark or laid back mid range, but in my opinion this situation happens because this IEM is most revelator one than you can imagine.Overall
Extremely recommended!!! (Posted on 11/20/12) - Great productReview by Kijana

First of all, I am not an audiophile by any means; however, I did do my research and lots of reviews indicated that this was a decent set of IEM's.Overall
I was quite pleased with the free 2 day FedEx shipping and I got the item within 48 hours. The packaging and accessories included with the R1 are a bonus: a nice red & black case, an airline adapter, 1/4" adapter, S/M/L tips, a comply foam tip, and bi-flange tip.
I haven't been disappointed with the R1's in my few days of testing. They provide good isolation (which I wanted for travel purposes). I haven't tried them on an airplane but I think they will be fine for my purposes.
The unit is moderately comfortable. I can wear them for a few hours and not face any discomfort.
The sound is great (for me). I haven't owned many headphones, earphones, etc. but the R1's are good enough for me, especially at this price point. You will have to look elsewhere for a more detailed description of their sound quality...sorry!
Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, which is what any buyer wants :) (Posted on 11/19/12) - Great price/performance ratio!Review by Viktor

Accessories:Overall
A lot of useful stuffs come in the box, the hard case is excellent, it also holds my Sansa Clip Zip, but it could hold even a slightly bigger DAP.
Cable:
Not the best I've had, but okay for the price.
Fit, isolation:
With the Comply tips you can't even feel that there is something in your ear, and it isolates very well, tested in public transport :D
Sound:
You can change the sound signature by changing the tips on your IEM. It will always be kinda V-shaped, but you can choose how deep this V is. I'm not really a fan of these brain exploding bass extensions, and I found that the Complys are the best for me. They do not amplify the bass, and they keep the soundstage intact.
So this is what I hear with the Complys:
The bass is there, it's really good quality and not shy on the amount either. I personally find it too much, but I can live with it.
The mids on the other hand suffer from this bass extension. It's recessed, the vocals sound distant, not the best, but still - considering the price - good/okay.
I have no complaints about the highs though. They sound really good.
Soundstage is very wide, but not that deep. But really really good for its price range.
With some burn in I found the bass extension getting reduced a little, so I recommend using them a lot before making an opinion.
Conclusion:
For the price these are great. Popular V-shaped sound signature, a lot of accessories, a nice case, great isolation and comfort. But if you are looking for a neutral IEM like I was, don't repeat my mistake of buying these. Go with the M5 instead or HM5 if you would like a headphone. I have been using (the more expensive) Brainwavz M2s with my MP4 player and my Tablet but wanted some earphones with mic to use with my smart phone so bought the R1s whilst on offer. Of course I had to give them a test with my Tablet for music and I was very impressed! My initial reaction is that for me they give more clarity than the M2s. Both the high end and low end were very good and there was a clearer separation of instruments than with my M2s (I guess they may need a clean however). Tested on several tracks that I have used in past to compare speakers. These include Jazz, Rock & Classical pieces. All sounded great with bass lines clear and the higher end (eg cymbals) being clear. Build quality seems good (but have not yet tested the mic) and the case and accessories are superb. I have no hesitation in recommending the R1s. (Posted on 10/30/12)Overall - Bargain!Review by Jim

I got these while on special, so for the price (around $30) these are amazing.Overall
These are probably the most bassy earphones I've tried but it's not to the point of drowning out the rest of the sound.
Soundstage and clarity is good and the build quality seems pretty good.
These are designed for over ear wear but they work fine normally as well.
Fit and isolation is great especially with the included comply foam tips.
Dual dynamics for around $30 was great but they're still pretty decent at rrp. (Posted on 10/27/12) - Quick shipment, very impressed.Review by Alexander

I have had the brainwavz m3's before I order these, I still enjoy them, but I missed some low end. These have such a big low end, I am very impressed by the overall balance and sound quality especially when you consider the price.Overall
I would recommend them to everybody, there a real bargain, and the sound is amazing. (Posted on 10/26/12) - Excellent Overall sound separation and clarity for the priceReview by Paul F.

these headphones offer great value for the money. The included case is actually useable because it is both crushproof and large enough that it isn't a pain to have to put your IEMs in. The vast array of tips should allow most ears to get a good, comfortable seal (comply tips are MUCH appreciated). As for the sound, I don't have a ton of experience listening to IEMs (I own the Sennheiser CX485s and CX150s), but I will say that these headphones offer MUCH greater sound separation and overall detail. The bass can be a bit boomy, but it isn't detrimental to the sound detail. Highs are very clean and up-front with no harshness compared to others I have listened to. If there is one minus to these great headphones it is that the midrange is set back in the soundstage. It isn't muffled per se, more like the singer is sitting a few rows farther back from the rest of the instruments. This is most apparent with female voices. If these were a bit more mid-forward, they would easily get a 5 especially for the price. But either way, they are a great value for what they offer.Overall
PS: I listen to mostly movie soundtracks, classical and orchestral video game music. I have yet to listen to Rock, Hip Hop or Techno on them. (Posted on 10/25/12) - The best at the range, sweetest twitters with decent bass.Review by Suran

This is my first dual-driver. They have sweetest tweeter sound of all the iem's i have heard, bass is not over-powering but decent enough.Overall
What i like about them most is its response to smallest frequencies ranges, mostly i couldn't hear that significant change with others, even with bose & klipsch s4.
When i saw the pic's i was bit thoughtful about its fitting, as it seemed to have long head but i must say it fit quite comfortably. (Posted on 10/25/12) - BassReview by Young

Now about the IEMs.. They sound fantastic, Bass is punchy and Highs are crystal clear. You can hear each and every instrument playing clearly. Sound stage is wide. and for this price you can't go wrong.. MP4 Nation has brought Dual Dynamic Driver IEM at an unbelievable price.
Pros:
Wide Soundstage
Good Highs and Lows
Weigh very less
Cons:
None of the added tips gave me a good seal, had to rely on tips from my old M4
Cable could be made of more high quality material (Posted on 10/23/12) - Awesome.Review by Jo

Dual dynamic drivers. Bass + treble. Overall well balanced sound but definitely more of a fun sound than an accurate. Includes a ridiculous amount of accessories at this price. I've only had these earphones for about a day, but I feel strongly about them enough to give them 5 stars. The packaging is very nicely done, suitable for gifting.Overall
They came out of the package sounding great. Please note that this is before burning them in. I was pleasantly surprised to hear such clear bass and treble around this price range, A good amount of detail too.
The build quality is good. I mean, yes, they are completely plastic, but they feel sturdy enough.
They come with plenty of eartips. Different sizes and types (comply foam, bi-flange, silicon) so it shouldn't be a problem to find the right fit.
they are designed to be worn over the ear (so the cable goes around your ear), this may feel a bit weird in the beginning if you haven't used this type of earphones before, but people usually get used to it pretty quickly.

I just received a pair of R1's to test them out...and came away VERY impressed for what you get for the money.Overall
I have quite a few high end headphones ,as well as IEM's, to compare these to, including the Brainwavz B2 dual armature IEM's. As the R1's have dual dynamic drivers(think of it as a poor mans dual armature),this is a valid comparison to me. I think the R1's are a great low cost full range IEM, very well balanced with a nice soundstage. They compare very well to even the vaunted B2's at a price point thats easy to swallow.
I honestly cant recommend these more, they are a great bargain in the low to mid range IEM market, give them a try, you wont regret it! (Posted on 10/10/12)
