THIS COMES WITH MICROPHONE WITH SIMPLE REMOTE FUNCTIONS (PICK UP, HANG UP, MUTE, PLAY, PAUSE, NEXT). COMPATIBLE WITH PHONES THAT SUPPORT TRRS connector, LIKE THE IPHONE, ANDROID PHONES ETC.

Moderate value when on SALEReview by Jorge
Overall
The headphone housing and the 5cm of shapeable cable have an good build quality, nice enough but nothing to rave about; bad thing is that the rest is slightly below average looking (cable, plastic splitter, mic, plug).

Another thing is that I'm not liking the mic location, I feel that it's too close and makes no sense being next to the splitter and not being merged with it, just silly.

Also, really hard to keep in place if active at all, but good for commuting and sitting elsewhere.

Sound wise, well, I dont have much experience, but they sound ok for being on the go, depends a lot on getting a good fit deep inside the ear; Sadly, I doesnt hold a candy to my ATH-400 why makes me throw up rainbows.

Packaking and goodies are excelent, quick shipping too. (Posted on 4/24/13)
Initial impression on build qualityReview by Mann
Overall
Not so impressed with the build quality. Right out of the box the mic housing is broken although still functional. Sound quality-wise I have yet to appreciate them after a burn in (and I haven't tried the other ear tips yet). I will update this review if and when I get a replacement.

Shipping to Australia took exactly 2 weeks. (Posted on 4/11/13)
Sound and build quality of a much higher pricerangeReview by akb
Overall
These are the best in ear earphones I have used the last few years, comparable only to a pair of Shure E2C I used a few years ago that cost a whole lot more. The over ear design is very well made and makes the earphones stay in place even when the cable is pulled. Bass is incredible in the lower end, and I've been told by people on the phone that the microphone works great. (Posted on 3/24/13)
Average - not even..Review by NB Online
Overall
I though I would get these, to try out the dual dynamic speaker feature (as if I don't have enough earphones already). Got them very quickly (well done MP4 Nation) but have to say the quality of build is average but what really disappointed me was the sound. Compared to the soundmagic E10M, these are lightweight, vocals to recessed, poorly balanced and general lack of performance across all the ranges. (Posted on 3/19/13)
a very good spare for me Review by Emre
Overall
My main earphones are M2s and I bought these for the reviews and the price. I should say I m not disappointed, good build quality, over average sound and great price. I can not agree with one of the reviews that the sound range is similar to M2s as the M2s are certainly wider and crispier but R1s are still very good. I had Sennheisers with triple the price which were near as good. I would recommend them to anyone. (Posted on 3/19/13)
Cool bananas!Review by Aloosh
Overall
Got these on special and for the price they are pretty damn special. A budget priced dual driver IEM- much cheaper than any previous dual driver I've owned.

Sound is great and build quality is solid.

Really impressed with what this brand is doing for the price. (Posted on 3/14/13)
They easily compare to 100$ IEM's.Review by Em
Overall
after a week of research aOEM'nd non stop analysis of different reviews, my choice ended on these earphones.

Best I've made!
A great array of plugs as well as amazing clean sound, with just the right amount of bass, and fast Fedex shipping, makes these a five star deal.

The little pouch that comes in the box is actually pretty useful. (Posted on 3/11/13)
A great headsetReview by R1Owner
Overall
I have previously bought the Brainwavz R1 without the microphone, and loved it so much, that I bought the one with microphone as well.

The value proposition here is amazing.
Best accessories I have ever received with an earphone -
very beautiful and sturdy case, 6.3mm adapter, airplane adapter and 8 (!) pairs of tips. The double flanges are pre-installed, and for a good reason - they sound the best.

I have bought the first version of this product - with less comfortable microphone location and without the memory wire - but I still love it! May buy the new version in the future...

I have paid a 100$ for Klipsch S4A II before buying the R1 -
R1 is far superior both as a headphone and a microphone.Don't know any other earphone below 50$
that can deliver such great sound.

Good for what ails yaReview by Bob Loblaw

They seem to do a good job. I like the packaging and the complete setup that comes with it. I kind of wish the mic was a bit farther up but that's just me being picky... (Posted on 3/5/13)
Good Bang for Buck for BassReview by Vincent
Overall
Here's another quick review of the Brainwavz R1s.
I bought these during the pre-order sale about 3 weeks ago.

Build:
Luckily, these second generation versions of the Brainwavz R1s have fixed their mic position that previous reviews have mentioned and no longer are too far up. It sits at about your upper pec (good spot).
The memory wire by the ear works fairly well (must be worn over-ear.
Eartips... They don't fit the greatest for me. Luckily, they do include Comply Foam Tips, which do conform to basically any ear and provide a very nice seal. The problem with these (as all comply foam tips), is that you better clean your earwax often, otherwise it'll stick to these tips.
Wires look solid, with an 3.5mm jack.

Sound:
These are my first dual driver IEMs, but I have/owned a few consumer type headphones/IEMs (Klipsch Image One Bluetooth, Bowers & Wilkins P3, Klipsch S4A (I & II), Monster Turbines, IE Beats, Shure 215, various cheap ones).
Currently, I regularly use my S4A (II).. and while I love the S4A, these are much better for bass IF you can find the proper seal. Just massive bass monsters that are fairly clean for a very good price. The treble and their mids however, are just okay.
One problem I do have with these though is that they have driver flex on bass-heavy songs when played louder. I've been informed that changing the eartips may help, but the other tips don't fit very well with me.

Price:
Amazing value overall, especially since I got them on sale.

Overall:
If you're into pretty bass-heavy music, definitely! I'd probably stay away if you're looking for bright headphones or listen to a lot of treble/mid focused music.
Great product in my opinion though, driver flex aside. (Posted on 2/26/13)
Great pair of earphones and equally great customer serviceReview by Henry
Overall
Overall an amazing pair of IEM for the price and 2 day shipping.

I have a pair of Shure SE530s but these will be my daily pair that I carry around everywhere.

Great sound and bass for dual drivers and lots of different ear tips to cater to every ear with an awesome carrying case.

Their customer service is just as great as they were very pleasant to deal with over email. Very prompt and professional and I've been recommending their products to all my coworkers and friends. (Posted on 2/21/13)
Neutral sound with outstanding bassReview by justme
Overall
Very good sounding for the price. Not that warm and natural, but detailed with deep well controlled bass. Their strong point is sound quality.
Mic with remote is easy to use/access and gives additional functionality. (Posted on 2/15/13)
A lot of bass, but still very detailedReview by David
Overall
I've owned many different IEM, with prices ranging from 5$ to 300$, and those, even if they will not become my favorite, are one of the best I've heard.

I purchased these for my brother, who is a bit of a bass-head. I prefer less bassy earphones, but those remained very detailed, even with the overpowering bass frequencies, which extend lower than I would have thought.

The included accessories are a very nice touch, of the kind (and quantity) you would expect with a much more expensive pair of earphones.

For the price, especially with the free two days shipping (if that matter to you) those are a very good pair of IEM. Highly recommended if you know what you're getting, I doubt many other brands have such a good quality/price. (Posted on 2/12/13)
Great sound for the price, even though the construction could be sturdier!Review by Andrei
Overall
Liking these IEMs.

Have to say though the sound signature isn't really for me.

It's too wide in a way, the bass feels wobbly sometimes.

Apart from that a good pair of IEMs. (Posted on 2/10/13)
not amazingReview by Tangbat
Overall
Base:
Because I'm somewhat a basshead I've payed particular attention to bass while listening to random choices of music on my phone. I must admit, the bass had a pretty weak presence and hardly meets the quote "rich in bass" that they advertise. The songs lost some energy due to the unsatisfactory bass from this iem.

Mid:
Definitely recessed a bit. This iem is not for you if mid is an important factor to you. Which in my case isn't, but i still was forced to boost mids for songs that needed it.

Treble:
I was satisfied by the treble. I was able to experience clear sounds, but i can't say it's outstanding enough for this iem to be called treble oriented. I'd say it was OK

Soundstage was pretty good as you'd expect from dual dynamics, it's easy to catch some sounds that you didn't notice on a single driver

I am impressed by the set of accessories and the packaging, but disappointed that no matter what tips i use they just eventually slide off my ear holes with the exception of the foam tips

I am also quite saddened because of having driver flex on both sides, but the design is pretty good with a nice combination of red and black in contrast to cheap light plastic feeling .

If it were me, I wouldn't suggest this ever at a 50$ price and even at the sale price of 35$ since this price range is so competitive that it has wonderful iems that would better sound than this. (Posted on 2/8/13)

These earbuds are better than the $90 + earbuds I brought from Klipsch and Monster, hopefully it last though! Good shipping service btw. It was very fast and no duty tax. (Posted on 2/7/13)
Detailed Entry level IEM Review by Xhitiz
Overall
R1 are one of the cheapest and detailed dual dynamic driver.Detailed because bass and sound stage are overwhelming and mids are distinctive making IEM more sweet and warm sounding. But Bit low on build quality and one of the "Handle With Care" one.Only problem I faced that they are not compatible with my sony experia phone, otherwise I will say bang for bucks. (Posted on 1/10/13)
1 for ME and 3 for my friends...Review by ashok
Overall
Its been over a week now that im using my amazing R1. They sound much better than what i heard them when they were delivered.

My friends in office were curious of these weird looking headphones & when they heard it they were stunned by the amazing sound especially superior sub-bass reproduction. Now that they have heard the R1 they want to listen to this and nothing else.

For such a good price i think its a kill to go for... (Posted on 1/5/13)
Excellent for dubstepReview by Insayne
Overall
As you might expect, this IEMs dig deeper than most. But what's really impressive is how the bass is still controlled. Making this the ideal IEM for dubstep.

The mids are a bit recessed, but not too drastically.

Treble is sharp and shiney but not sibilant.

The timbre of the reproduction is above average.

Soundstage is hands down, the best in its class, and probably the best in the > $70 range.

Build quality is average.

Bundled accessories are excellent, especially the excellent semi-hard protective case.

Bottom line: Great second headphone. Great sub-bass reproduction. Great price point. a great deal overall. (Posted on 12/28/12)
The Amazing Brainwavz R1 Dual Dynamic with microphoneReview by ashok
Overall
Today exactly at 2:20 i got the Brainwavz R1 in my hand and couldnt wait so opened it at my office reception.

Well, and since that time I still haven't been able to stop myself from listening to it obviously stating that they are very comfortable.

The nice box came with a ton of extras, including three pairs of normal silicone tips(S/M/L), two sets of bi flange tips(S/L), and a set of Comply "T" foam tips.

Not coming to technical aspect - The separate dynamic drivers(9mm for woofer, 6.8mm for tweeter)have been tuned precisely. And thats why it is one of the best low cost IEM's I've been hearing till now.

The R1's themselves are also very well made, with good quality black and red plastic and solid cords, with a nice sliding piece to help cinch them up nicely.

So let me stop wiriting and start listening again to these amazing Brainwavz R1. (Posted on 12/26/12)

Best VFM pair of Brainwavz till dateReview by Sri Harsha
Overall
Having owned M2, M4 and a pair of alpha in the past, the first thing I noticed was a step down in build quality. But it more than makes up for it in the sound department.

These have been my primary pair for the last 10 days, love them.
Comply T series tips feel better than the earlier bundled S- Series tips and are very comfortable over long periods though bi-flanges offer more isolation.

Coming to microphone, firstly the position is awkward and secondly the volume is very low during calls, same is the case with my M4+ so it didn't come as a surprise. Won't be using mic much so that is not my concern, but the call volume could have been better.

Finally the entire bundle along with the hard case, complys and the adapters is super bang for buck and simply unbeatable at the sale price.

Definitely would buy another pair of R1's as a back up :D (Posted on 11/6/12)
Good but...Review by Mathieu
Overall
Here is my review after 2 days of tests!

I had before the Soundmagic PL30 and after I bought the Brainwavz M2...

Then I got those R1 to maybe get a better sound! Here is the results!

Built Quality : Quite disappointed , specially when compared to the M2.. the plastic of the earphones is cheap and the cables are not as sophisticated as the ones on the M2.
But the package (case) and accessories are a great value (as always with brainwavz)

Sound quality : The sound is a step above the M2! I can really feel the difference, even if the M2 were a great offer for their price! The treble is more precise and crispy.
The bass is less "heavy" than the M2 but can be easily adjusted with an equalizer. I prefer maybe the bass obtained with the 1 driver M2 offers...
So what about the medium sounds? They seem to be a bit far, like listening to a musician one raw behind the others. So the best would be a 3 way earphone! ^^
But this is not so bad anyway, they produce a very precise and detailled sound after a few tunings on your mp3 equalizer! (for the price don't hope to get much more quality).

With the 2 flanges tips the sounds are quite isolated but not as well as foam tips! So..
I have to put the volume +25/30% louder than with the M2!! WIth my Cowon J3, I usually put 20/22 over 40 volume.. with the R1 I have to set 26/28 over 40 to obtain the same result!!:

What else can I say? The conclusion?

Pros : Overall sound quality for the price (precision of treble are great) / Package / Comfortable / look / accessories

Cons : Build quality (plasitc + cable quality) ....
+ ... the left earphone has a problem, it vibrates with very low tones so I should have sent them back to HK... but too boring ... hope there won't be more problems for other ppl buying these R1 whiches are great anyway!! (Posted on 10/29/12)
A good pair of headphones, with great accessories and free shippingReview by Ashwin
Overall
The headphones are good. Ive been enjoying them for about a week now. the build quality is good. they are over the ear and not so comfortable worn straight down. but worn correctly, the noise isolation is great.
The tips provided are sure to give u a great fit. And u get the complys too.
I agree with others here- the mic is a little weird. but i have been using them with my phone and they work well.
To summarize- i found these headphones to have strong bass. they fit well . accessories are really good. The free shipping just makes it better. (Posted on 10/27/12)
Top EarphonesReview by Gametot
Overall
The Brainwavz R1 are very good indeed.

They offer a good sound with a nice bass.

The workmanship is good. It is not a metal, but it is filling in well.
Since cable and the Microphones are also good but not as with the Brainwavz M1

A big plus get the accessories.

The packaging and presentation are excellent.

From me, there is a buy rating for the R1 (Posted on 10/23/12)
Brainwavz R1 Dual Dynamic Earphones With MicReview by Jhyun
Overall
Just a quick review of this awesome IEM.

Build:
Bought the version that comes with a mic. The position of the mic/remote is a problem. It's so high up that it's actually behind the ear. Hopefully this will be rectified.

I've had a few earphones from Brainwavz, but the R1 has the most "common" quality cable. Maybe I've been spoilt by the previous phones they had, but then at least the R1 is still decent.

Sound:
Comparing it vs the Fischer Audio Consonance which I was still using this morning, the R1 has a better sub-bass response. There's alot less mid bass bloat compared to the Consonance, which is awesome. The top range sparkle, but not sibliant which is again awesome. Note that this impression is made after around 10 minutes of listening, hopefully it gets better after some burn-in.

Price:
At the current sale price, it's damn worth it. I'm buying one more w/o mic just to keep as a spare. The hard case and ear tips make it an awesome package for price wise.

Overall:
Yeah I'm buying another one, and getting my friends to buy it. It's damn awesome for the price, just don't get the one with mic until they fix the position of the mic.
