The Ainol NOVO8 Real Pics And Testing

May 24, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, Android Tablet, MP4, PMP, Tablet with No Comments.

Thanks to Sere83 at mp4nation.net/forum for provided the link to a full on unboxing, out in the wild pics and performance testing of Ainol's new NOVO8 smart Android player. Firstly, the NOVO8 is an 8-inch player that sports Android 2.2 FroYo and is powered by a Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 800MHz. The NOVO8 and its siblings (NOVO4, 5 & 7) are a big step towards Android for Ainol, and don't worry, these guys aren't neutered - they come with WiFi. They're pretty big news here in Asia and within our community, so if you're new or haven't read much about these great devices, I recommend heading over to our forum site and seeing what people are saying about them. Getting back to the real-pics and testing: The NOVO8 was caught out in the wild and proved to be a player capable of its wort

Ainol Novo 5 Unboxing & Photo Review

The Ainol Novo 5 is perhaps the closest we've seen to a portable "all-in-one not-phone" from China yet. It's a 5-inch, Android 2.2-running, RK2818-powered, WiFi-sporting, 720p HD-capable portable media player. Whew. Prior to it there was the SmartQ V5 and V3, both revisions held back by the TCC8902 chipset, stranded on Android 2.1 Eclair and plagued by miserable audio desync issues that otherwise neutralised the 1080p advantage the chip held. Then we saw the barrage of "Smart PMPs" - those 3.6 to 5-inch devices that boasted Android but were ultimately neutered as they lacked WiFi connectivity, arguably the only reason to stick the OS on a PMP. Now Ainol are making their entry into the Android field with their whole line of Novo tablets, from the interesting looking Novo 8 to the small No

Ainol’s Flagship Tablet – The NOVO8 – Unboxing

May 5, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, Android Tablet, Tablet with 3 Comments.

With the recent official release of Ainol's 5-inch tablet from their NOVO line - the NOVO5 - we've now got an unboxing of their flagship model - the NOVO8. The 8-inch slate comes in a stylish albeit standard Ainol box that reveals the device when opened. What you'll then find within the device if you were to open it (which we advice against!) is a Cortex-A9 processor, an ARM Mali-400 3D graphics chip and 512MB of RAM. The player's 8-inch capacitive screen supports 5-point multitouch and has a resolution of 1280 x 768. Other specs include 1080p video playback, HDMI out and WiFi and OTG connectivity. Find out more after the break. Moving on to the outside - the tablet comes in a soft, cream white shell with rounded back edges - simple yet nice. The NOVO8 does have a touchscreen, however

Ainol’s ‘New’ Tablets – The Novo Series

April 1, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, Tablet with 1 Comment.

Ainol have a new line of Android tablets coming out that's conveniently called Novo (etymology: from novus ("new")). There's 4 tablets to the line - Novo4, Novo5, Novo7 and Novo8 - each number corresponding to their screen size in inches. That's pretty much it in terms of what Ainol have released so far. Could we be seeing new out-of-China honeycomb tablets? Although the lack of Bumbloid (BumbleBee Android) in the images keeps us from hoping too much. Extra image after the break. via imp3

The Ainol V8000HDX Vs The Onda VX610

March 30, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, MP4, Onda, PMP with No Comments.

Mp4Nation Forum Member bakadeshi has reviewed two MP4Nation products, one past (Ainol) and one present (Onda), detailing each aspects of the portable media players from their design, to performance to cost. The Ainol V8000HDX came out on top with an overall score of 4.3 whereas the Onda VX610 was close behind with 3.9. It was also nice to see score points given for each aspect as well as a write-up. But perhaps what we enjoy even more is brutal honesty - "Ainol’s Interface is more colorfull and much better designed Icons in my opinion. The Onda’s default interface feels like a 13 year old girl designed it." It would seem that Chinese PMPs are still impressing their audiences with their media playback abilities - something we of course like to hear - "These 2 players are my first in t

Follow Up – The Ainol Cortex-A9 Tablet Does NOT Come With Android 3.0 But Rather 2.3

March 28, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, Android Tablet, Tablet with No Comments.

It's a shame to say that the Ainol tablet we were so chuffed about will not actually come with Android version 3.0 Honeycomb, but rather Android 2.3 Gingerbread, despite Ainol marketing the tablet as a Honeycomb tab. The tablet should still be powered by an ARM Cortex -A9 processor (if that's also not true then we'll be sorely disappointed) and we're going to assume that Ainol will claim a Honeycomb update to come in the future, but we're going to take that with a pinch of salt. via mp4nation/forum
