The Wonders Of The A10 Chip Makes You Wonder

September 6, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, Android Tablet, Hardware News, Onda, Other, Tablet, Teclast with 1 Comment.

The A10 processing chip by Allwinner Tech has been making several appearances in the China tablet market and has been causing quite a stir with boastful performance specs. With big names like Ainol, Onda and Teclast adopting the chip for their latest tablet releases, the chip has done well for itself, especially since it claims it can handle 2160p video playback, and out-benchmark Cortex-A8 and -A9 processors. We've recently blogged about Ainol's new NOVO7 tablet - an A10 user - and now we've got the P76 tablet from Teclast, and an upcoming Onda tablet that will also sport the A10 chip. Read more about this after the break. All three tablets have the same epic spec list that includes, as mentioned, 2160p HD video playback,  video decoding of up to a resolution of 3840 x 2160, 2D

Onda Goes For RK2918 With Their 7-Inch Gingerbread Tablet – The Vi20W

August 16, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, Onda, Tablet with 1 Comment.

Onda have now joined the RK2918 craze with the introduction of their latest Android tablet - the Vi20W. It is a 7-inch tablet that's powered by Rockchip's latest offering, the Rk2918 Cortex A8 processing chip, and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread as its OS. It also uses a capacitive screen with multi-touch support, and has a GC800 3D graphics accelerator. Together with 1080p full HD video playback, 8GB of internal memory and WiFi and 3G connectivity, you're looking at a pretty darn decent entertainment tablet - although quite similar to a 5-incher we recently blogged about. Is this the new quality of tablets coming out of china? Find out more after the break. It looks as if there are more out-of-china tablets with RK2918 chips, capacitive screens, 1080p support and WiFi plus 3G connec

Onda VX580A Sports 2.2 + WiFi – Definitely RK2818 Too

June 15, 2011 by Alex in Android Tablet, MP4, Onda, PMP, Tablet with No Comments.

Onda has pulled, stretched, augmented, upgraded and blessed the VX580 PMP with all sorts of added features and upgreaded specs and names. They've done it again, this time adding an 'A' to its name and WiFi to its game. The Onda VX580A is a smart PMP and the successor to the VX580W, or is it the VX580+... err. Let's start that again. The VX580A is a successor to its predecessors of the same model. It sports Android 2.2 (FroYo), has WIFi connectivity and is powered by a RockChip RK2818 processor. It has the same sized screen as the other VX580s - 5-inches - but what's completely new about the VX580A other than added WiFi connectivity is its shell. In stead of the standard bold matte plastic, the VX580A has a brushed aluminum look - a more sophisticated look suited for an Android player, wi

Onda Releases Three Upgraded Existing Models – The VX570+, VX580+ And VX610+

May 24, 2011 by Alex in MP4, Onda, PMP with 2 Comments.

Even though we're sticklers for advancing technology, we're still happy to hear when a company still cares for their existing devices, as opposed to dropping the 'old' and running off with whatever is new. Onda has shown that they care for their 'old' by releasing upgraded models of a few of their existing MP4 players - the VX570, VX580 and the VX610 - each now adding a '+' to their name, as well as upgraded benefits, respectively.  The VX570+, VX580+ and VX610+ now all sport Full HD 1080p video playback as well as video output. Granted these are not massive changes, it's still an improvement. The new models are still very much similar in all other aspects as their predecessors (their sizes remain the same: 4.3-inches for the VX570+, 5-inches for the VX580+ and 7-inches for the VX610+),

Onda Vi30 With 1.2GHz Processor?

March 31, 2011 by HS in Android Tablet, Onda, Tablet with No Comments.

Onda are saying that a new, updated iteration of their Vi30 will house a 1.2GHz processor as well as be upgradeable to Android 2.3 - two very interesting statements. With the propensity of promises to end up as empty in the Chinese tablet market, we're not hugely optimistic on the latter promise. The 1.2GHz processor, though, sounds familiar - could it be powered by the Samsung S5PV210 Cortex-A8 SoC? It seems likely as we've seen the processor clocked at that speed before. However, why Onda don't make it explicit seems an odd marketing tactic. 512MB DDR2 RAM on this 8-inch (4:3) tablet also suggests it could be the S5PV210. The tablet also has an 8-inch capacitive multitouch touchpanel, making it one of the higher-end devices coming out of Shenzhen. It's said to support 3G connectivity (

The Ainol V8000HDX Vs The Onda VX610

March 30, 2011 by Alex in Ainol, MP4, Onda, PMP with No Comments.

Mp4Nation Forum Member bakadeshi has reviewed two MP4Nation products, one past (Ainol) and one present (Onda), detailing each aspects of the portable media players from their design, to performance to cost. The Ainol V8000HDX came out on top with an overall score of 4.3 whereas the Onda VX610 was close behind with 3.9. It was also nice to see score points given for each aspect as well as a write-up. But perhaps what we enjoy even more is brutal honesty - "Ainol’s Interface is more colorfull and much better designed Icons in my opinion. The Onda’s default interface feels like a 13 year old girl designed it." It would seem that Chinese PMPs are still impressing their audiences with their media playback abilities - something we of course like to hear - "These 2 players are my first in t

Onda VX580W Sports 2.2 – Is This RK2818 Too?

March 25, 2011 by HS in Android Tablet, Onda, Tablet with 2 Comments.

The Onda VX580W looks to supersede the VX580R, and it boasts Android 2.2, something the 2.1-wielding "R" revision lacked. Curiously, though, Onda have not yet revealed the full specs of the VX580W, though they have hinted at the same hardware configuration as the VX580R - the same RK2818 processor. Though the RK2818 processor typically indicates Eclair, a whole wave of official releases and firmwares recently have the Rockchip processor moving to Froyo (2.2) which is a nice step forward. As we've said before, the code has been cracked and 2.1 is no longer the ceiling, but the ground floor of a two story building. WiFi is also present meaning this isn't a "Smart PMP'. RK2818 means 720p HD video playback across a wide range of file types, as well as generally stable Android implementation.

Onda Little With Their 1.9-inch VX320 MP3 Player

March 24, 2011 by Alex in MP3, Onda, PMP with No Comments.

Onda have announced a new MP3 player that sports a tiny 1.8-inch colour screen - the VX320. The player has yet to be released, and there's not much specs out yet but we're obviously going to be keeping our eyes peeled for this. Not only is the screen of the VX320 small, but its thickness is a super slim 8.5mm. It supports APE and FLAC files, and should be able to play all of your other common audio files. However, despite devices now-a-days being able to play audio, video and image files, browse the web, take pictures, brush your teeth and walk your dog, the VX320 goes back to an MP3 player's roots - it is simply an audio player. It may be a bit fancy with its colour display, but we're confident that Onda has focused on the quality of the hardware with this one. It also looks great and c
